OK but not much more

Posted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: Close to gas station.
Location: Nothing within walking distance :(
OK hotel but far away from the town centre. Nothing except a gas station and KFC in the vicinity.

Easy check in, clean room, quiet, nice. Good breakfast, they have a daily special beyond just pastries and cereal. Outstanding biscuits and gravy.

Nice last minute stop

Posted Mar 6, 2014
Pros: Right place, right time.
Cons: It was fine for our needs.
Location: We only were there for shelter from the storm, so we did not explore Walsenburg proper.
Driving home to El Paso from Colorado Springs, a February snowstorm hit (despite weather reports that the Pass would be clear). After white-knuckling along I85 at 25 mph for 90 minutes in 20 ft. visibility, we saw the Walsenburg exit and got off. Conveniently, the hotel was right at the crossroads, so we opted to stay. I booked the room from my phone in the parking lot, and saved about $20. The rooms are Motel style, you drive up to the door of your room. There is only one room, with a table and 2 chairs, a queen size bed, a fridge and microwave. Functional, with all-weather carpet, and an HDTV with cable. There is a KFC/Taco Bell right next door, and a decent truck stop/gas station just beyond that; all were within walking distance despite the snow. There is a main lobby where they serve omelets or normal cold breakfast items, along with coffee and hot chocolate and juice. The staff are friendly. The rooms are clean. Had the feel of being used by skiers who only need a place to crash.

Nice hotel overall

Posted Jan 7, 2014
The hotel was nice the desk clerk was awesome even work a full house. She fixed a booking issue and we had no issueso in the rom. It was great to have real queen beds and not a full trying to be a queen like in some pricier hotels. The staff that I talked to were helpful.

Pleasant surprise

Posted Jan 6, 2014
Pros: Clean rooms, friendly staff
Cons: Breakfast options were limited.
We were trapped in a blizzard and had to seek emergency lodging in Walsenburg. Hotel options are limited in this tiny town, but the Best Western was a pleasant surprise. The staff was a little overwhelmed by the sudden influx of guests from the interstate, but they handled it very well. The hotel was nicer than the Hampton and HI Express we had stayed in for the previous two nights.

Clean & friendly

Posted Oct 23, 2013
Pros: See "experience."
Location: It was convenient access to the interstate. Gas station and a few restaurants very close. Other restaurants and shopping in town.
This hotel was close to the interstate. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was large, clean, and comfortable. We liked the fact that we were able to park our car right outside our door, and the door opened up to a parking area in the center of the hotel. It made it feel protected.

Comfortable bed in nice, clean room. Check in and out easy, Tange friendly and helpful. Good complimentary breakfast. We stay there every time we come to Walsenburg to visit our relatives. We'll be back.

road trip night 1

Posted Aug 15, 2013
Cons: not alot of choice of good places to eat in evening near by
Location: Just off the I.25
The motel was just in the right place for our first night of our road trip, with the bonus of a Kingbird nest below our window.

An older motel

Posted Jun 16, 2013
Pros: It was clean and in the right place at the right time.
Cons: I don't think it's problems can be fixed.
Location: It is an easy stop off of i25
While it indeed is older the rooms are nice and it was clean. Things they couldn't fix were footsteps on the ceiling, noise on the other side of the walls, and people outside especially those with motorcycles. It was the only national chain in the town. If you have a little less than an hour to spend, you could say Pueblo with more choices. For us it was an ok motel and we would stop at again.
