“pleasant surprise”

I was pleasantly surprised with how lovely this hotel is. The location is wonderful; we throughly enjoyed the walk through the fields/trees. The rooms were very clean and equipped with everything you can need during your stay- iron, kettle, tea's, coffee, hair dryer, towels, hangers etc. The staff were very friendly and accommadating. You can hear people walking/talking outside quite clearly, but it did not happen too often to become a nuisance- mainly during check-in/out times.

“Room great - another guest wasn't so great”

Whilst the room was great, unfortunately another guest of the hotel attending a prom decided to key 5 cars including mine, causing a fair amount of damage. Good thing was he was caught and charged. Check out was slow with the wrong bill being presented.

“Good value option”

For the rate, this hotel was reasonably good. My room was in the old mansion house which had character but was a bit cold on a winter's night. TV quality wasn't great and the bathroom was rather tired. The bath/shower mixer had broken and it took some ingenuity to get it working. None of this was enough to complain about because the price via Expedia was very good. The staff were great - always helpful and considerate. Even the staff passing in the corridors were pleasant and friendly. If you need a basic business overnight stop, this one is absolutely fine.

“Shabby but some pleasant surprises.”

A typical mid level corporate hotel. Overall rather shabby however the restaurant was surprisingly good. Free coffee bar, together with little snacks at different times of the day, was an added bonus.

“Overall disappointed”

Felt like a business conference venue rather than a hotel. Staff were friendly but did not seem well trained. We were given a room at the top of the old mansion which was not very accessible - needed to go up lots of stairs as there was no lift. No hot water in this room so moved to room in main building. Bed uncomfortable. On positive side the breakfast was very nice and the hotel grounds lovely.
