Pleasantly surprisedPosted Mar 27, 2015
The pictures don't do this place justice. Lovely, warm, friendly people. Excellent room and bed. Wifi actually worked which is a novelty to most places I stay!! Friendly family run business. Thoroughly recommend to anyone. Great breakfast. They even accommodated my early start with no fuss.

One night stayPosted Nov 29, 2014 on Hotels.com
Excellent overall. Friendly staff, good breakfast, nice room, comfortable bed. Fresh milk provided for in-room tea. Lots of books around the hotel for browsing, nice pictures on the walls. Quiet. Although parking is available and free in the hotel grounds, all spaces were taken when we arrived at 9 pm. We parked on the road just outside the hotel - no problem. There is no lift and the stairs are narrow! It is not easy to spot from the road at night.

Super find, walking distance from the town centre.Posted Nov 28, 2014
Location: The Bear at Wantage did us proud with a really high quality dinner and only a 10 minute walk from Alfred's Lodge
Lovely small comfortable B&B in Wantage town centre. Quiet, beautiful room. Recommended

Great B&BPosted Nov 11, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed at Alfreds Lodge recently for 1 night before a Ultra Marathon event. The house was lovely, our room on the top.floor was large spacious and clean with everything we would expect from a B&B stay! My partner said the breakfast was fantastic, unfortunately I was running so did not get a chance to experience. Jane was extremely helpful recommending places to eat in the evening.

SILVER WEDDINGPosted Oct 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
My sister and I travelled from Manchester to attend a family gathering in Wantage, not really knowing the area we found the accomadation to be perfect for our requirements. They were very helpful in directing us to the venue, asking what time we would like breakfast instead of telling us when breakfast was served, we were offered a larger room at no extra cost on our arrival. We would recommend Alfred's Lodge to anyone travelling in that area and will book there again when we next visit our relatives.

An excellent B&bPosted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: The rooms, the breakfast and the friendly staff
Cons: If you have any mobility restrictions, ask for the room on the ground floor and avoid the top floor which requires a lot of stair climbing.
It may not look much from the outside, but the rooms are very comfortable, modern and well furnished. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the breakfasts are delicious. Very convenient position. Highly recommended.

Luke and Hannahs little stay.Posted Apr 8, 2014 on Hotels.com
Thanks to Jane and her friend for the fantastic service at Alfreds lodge, the room was lovely, quoting Hannah 'it was like sleeping in a cloud' hahaha. Thanks for looking after us and for the half marathon breakfast. Han completed it (with the advice and fuel you gave her) in 2h27m07. Thanks again, this hotel is one of the best value I have stayed in in a while, and a fantastic little escape or place to rest your head to split up a journey. Next time I am down that way I will be returning.
