Small Inn offering great servicePosted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: Beautiful location. Excellent service
Cons: There was no shower.,but not that big a deal
Location: We went in to Stourhead, 3 times. We are National Trust members so that was free.Went to Longleat for the second day of our stay
All staff absolutely top quality Food choice a bit limited as we do not eat meat, but we had fish on both nights. On the second night we were served sea bass which was not on the menu. They made it specially and it was delicious

Great place for stopoverPosted Jun 22, 2014
We have used this Inn as a place to stop en-route to Devon over the years. Essentially it's character as a coaching inn has been maintained,we are relieved to say. A wonderful spot offering comfortable rooms, tasty food and welcoming and helpful staff. The free entry to Stourhead house and gardens is a real bonus and not to be missed.
Bathroom plumbing lets it down.Posted Sep 21, 2013
Good was very good and so were the staff. The room was quaint and clean. Could not have a shower as only a small trickle came out of head. There seemed to be problems with the plumbing as even though the water supply was minimal it took a long time to drain away.

great hotel for nature loversPosted Apr 2, 2013
Cons: The temperature in the room was set way too warm & the radiators were not adjustable so had to sleep with windows open even though it was 0" outside
Location: The Inn is 50m away from the Stourhead national Trust gardens which are spectacular
Spread Eagle Inn is a lovely find, you can't ask for a more amazing location. The lake and national trust gardens are located 50meters away and are not to be missed. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was of a good standard the only downside was they only serve breakfast for an hour 8-9am which is a bit limiting. We had dinner there too and the portions were large but sadly my 28day matured steak was the toughest I've had.

What a delightful surprise. We are a bit wary of smaller Inns because our previous experiences have sometimes shown poor service and quality of accommopdation. Not so at this facility. Everything was exactly as we had hoped for. Professional service at check-in, clean and comfortable rooms and terrific beer and evening dinner. My wife and I have travelled extensivly and were only staying for one night at the Spread Eagle Inn.I would suggest that the managers of the Inn harden their case for improved parking for residents with the land owners. Finally, for my American brothers, you will get the real taste and smell of English heritage here.
