Comfortable room in a handy locationPosted Jun 6, 2014
We chose the Walnut Tree Inn because it was close to Longleat and Stourhead and we wanted to stay in small villages rather than cities on our trip. The Inn was on a quiet street, the room was larger than some we had and was comfortable, the bathroom was nice and the food in the pub downstairs was good.

Very comfortable touring basePosted Mar 16, 2014
Pros: Very clean rooms, bed very comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food excellent, and beautifully presented
Cons: Only thing we could think of - perhaps a slightly wider selection of vegetarian main courses on the menu
Location: In a quiet spot in Mere. Within travelling distance of Longleat, Stourhead, Bovington Tank Museum, Salisbury for good shopping and lovely cathedral.
Stayed for 4 nights using Walnut Tree as a base as it is central to many attractions. It is situated in a quiet road in Mere but is close to the A303, making it easy to get to places such as Bath, Bristol, Salisbury. Longeat and Stourhead are just up the road. We hadn't realised the need to pre-book to visit Stonehenge, so this may be something other visitors would want to consider.

Very comfortable for family night stayPosted Nov 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
The staff prepared our room for our two young children very nicely. It was quiet and warm and food downstairs was delicious as was our breakfast. We were visiting Longleat for the weekend and was not too far to go. Would definitely recommend. Many thanks!

What a lovely stayPosted Nov 19, 2013
Excellent, what a lovely place to stay, only one night, but the staff made us welcome and the Sunday roast was superb. Not a soggy vegetable in sight! We'll done to to Mark and Sam.

Nice hotel near LongleatPosted Nov 19, 2013
Pros: The food and the friendliness of the hotel.
Location: We stayed here as wanted to be near Longleat, so it was ideal for that. If we had stayed longer we would have visited Stourhead gardens too.
We have a lovely stay. The hotel food and room was lovely. Children enjoyed it. The proprietors were helpful and friendly.

Great placePosted Oct 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
Stayed at the walnut tree inn last weekend as we were attending a wedding in the local area. The place itself was fine, no complaints at all. But the thing that really stood out was the staff. So helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Allowing early check in, holding a table in the restaurant for us when we got back slightly later than food was served. Being genuinely attentive. Would not hesitate to go back again. The food was pretty great too. Proper value for money.

Pleasant SurprisePosted Oct 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
We chose this hotel as it is in between Stonhenge and Longleat safari park and it was better than we expected. The food was good, the welcome friendly. A lovely room, a comfy bed and as we stayed on a Monday night we joined in with the pub quiz. Would definitely recommend!

Noisy rooms, but food OKPosted Sep 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
Limited rooms, but all need insulation and aircon. Very noisy kids playground (early evening), then drink and loud pub patrons (until after midnight) and early morning deliveries around 4 a.m.. Walls in room s are paper thin, so EVERY sound travels. Overall a reasonable menu with average food, indifferent service, but don't expect a quiet time!

Great rooms, but VERY noisyPosted Sep 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
Wifi only available for. 5 minutes, and then constant login every. 5 minutes.- Not adequate Rooms are well equipped and almost new, but pub visitors and kid's playground are all very noisy, and then there are the 4 a.m. Deliveries.....
