Country Manor HotelPosted Nov 27, 2013
Pros: Friendly staff. Good food. Beautiful location.
Cons: Rooms need updating and modernising. Slightly higher cleaning standards wouldn't go a miss either.
Hotel has received good reviews and to a certain extent I can see why, the food was good and the staff very friendly (at front desk at least). For me the room was very basic, whilst not dirty in places where it mattered (bed and bathroom) there were cobwebs on the ceiling and dust on the soft furnishings. The fan in the bathroom was very noisy (room 40) and despite being 2 floors up the music from wedding below could be heard word for word until it stopped at midnight. All in all not a bad hotel, but not what I would have come to expect from a 4 star hotel.

Lovely old building but a bit of a warrenPosted Oct 26, 2013
Pros: The building itself and the room was large and comfortable
Cons: As the dinner was so expensive we ate out both evenings. The staff, at times, seemed quite unfriendly and tense.
Location: Lovely grounds and surrounding scenery. We went to the Royal Shakespeare theatre and visited Warwick Castle. there are also various NT places nearby
I got the feeling that the staff did not really want to communicate with their guests on the whole. There was only a printed A4 sheet given at the time of arrival with the bare minimum of information regarding the facilities. We were not the only guests to be searching out breakfast on our second morning! Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable but the kettle had to be carried across to the other side of the room to heat as the lead wouldn't reach the socket (low down to the skirting board), behind the chest of drawers on which the courtesy tray was sitting . There was a double socket at one side of the bed which had to be used for the kettle and the hairdryer but unfortunately, this meant you couldn't see in the mirror to dry your hair as the lead wouldn't reach. Not what I would expect of a 4 star hotel especially when the cost of the food was taken into consideration - £39.95 for the 3 course table d'hote menu which we felt was way over-priced, as were the 'wheel of sausages' from the bar menu. At £14.95 I would have expected some really special sausages, not the three mediocre ones which were sitting on the mashed potato! Shame because the swimming pool was great but I couldn't recommend the hotel on the strength of the pool alone.

Billesley Manor Aug 2013Posted Sep 4, 2013
Pros: Peaceful and our room was in the coach house away from banging doors at night.
Cons: Perhaps some colourful shrubs around the perimiter of the grounds there is currently a vast expance of grass. It would make it lovely to walk around
Location: We went to two plays in Stratford and it was so convenient only a 5 minute drive away.
We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times now and each time the room has been fabulous. The hotel has a nice ambiance and beautiful grounds although perhaps more could be made of these with some shrubs and plants. It is situated out of the town of Stratford and is very quiet.

Last minute reliefPosted Aug 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
after the nearby walton hall let me down at the last minute I booked billesley manor and was pleasantly surprised. The barn rooms are nice, if a little stuffy, although they lack the grandeur of the main hotel. The restaurant was off-puttingly formal so dined in a lovely pub 2 miles away. breakfast was extremely busy and the hot buffet seemed constantly empty but tasty eventually. Impossibly hot breakfast room though, the whole place could do with a little ventilation. lovely grounds, despite the wasps. gym and pool looked nice too. overall a nice place to stay but bring your fineries for dinner

Decor/service don't match the building & settingPosted Jul 22, 2013
Pros: Location & setting
Cons: Décor, service, lack of attention to guests
Location: perfect location
Beautiful building in a perfect setting however the inside of the hotel is a good 15 years past its sell by date and in need of a serious update/renovation to get rid of the tired and unappealing décor & fittings. Whilst individual members of staff were helpful the general efficiency is pretty lacklustre and disorganised and some members of staff fairly offhand and unenthusiastic. Food in the restaurant is of a decent standard but comes from a limited choice menu and is expensive for what it is (£39.50 p/p for 2 courses) Breakfast is serve yourself buffet which is good although not monitored regularly to ensure that the various dishes are kept available and staff need to be asked to replenish, having to wait 15 minutes for fried eggs is somewhat frustrating after having take 5 minutes to find a member of staff to ask in the first place. With a reasonable effort at freshening up, decent service supervisors and a staff training program this could be a really great hotel rather than a very mediocre hotel in a beautiful building.

Must be better placesPosted Jul 16, 2013 on Hotels.com
Location was great for trips to Alcester and Stratford Upon Avon.Lovely Place to stay, just the rubbish and mayhem at breakfast. first day was ok , the second most of food was gone an hour before breakfast had finished serving.Need to chill on a break, not scramble for food when it's eventually brought out
