Ok, but rooms need a refurb

Posted Jan 17, 2014
This was a budget mid week stop over that fulfilled it's purpose but only just. The hotel and grounds are stunning but the stay was let down by a tired room with a shower that didn't produce any hot water. The rooms were clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. There is free wifi in the rooms which was an added bonus.

Bed side lights did not work, no hot water for a shower and no tea or coffee left in the room. Pretty poor all round

When I arrived they had no record of my booking, tired to charge me again even though I had already paid. The shower in the room was pitiful. It was like standing outside in a very fine drizzle. Twice there was no coffee in my room. Had a meal in the restaurant one evening which was pretty well below average for fish and chips. In short quite disappointing.

Oblivion to customer requirements

Posted Sep 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
On arrival I was advised breakfast not Included in my rate but there was no forthcoming information about my options should I wish to take breakfast. I went to my room expecting to browse menus for the evening options and breakfast. No menus in the room but a mention of local supermarket. Headed out again to buy eve meal and breakfast after having driven for three hours to get to the hotel. The room was adequate for a one night stay with little space for clothing. The bathroom was about the same size as the bedroom. Windows a bit awkward, net curtains and windows dirty. Duvet cover had staining. ( could have been old). Lots of noise from other rooms as walls very thin in annex. Bed comfy thank goodness and view over lawns - so pleasant. Next morning went to checkout and at no point was I asked if everything was ok I presume they do not want any feedback very disappointing would not recommend to anyone

ROOMS IN OUTBUILDINGS - BAD SIGNAGE & LIGHTING

Posted Sep 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
I was very pleased with every aspect of my stay apart from a feeling of being flung out on a limb by my room being in annexe buildings, like almshouses, which were arranged around the edge of a square with four wooden doors for entry, which all looked locked, and none of them had illumination to show which one was not locked. I arrived after dark and it was misty. I only found one door of the four with a keypad, and I ended up walking all around the circumference of the square before finding it. Then it was miles away from my actual room. This was a lousy welcome and an unnecessary frustration, but apart from that, room was fine except TV was rather small to view from the bed. Setting of hotel in a beautiful park, nice breakfast & everything fine otherwise. Would stay there again, hoping for bigger TV screens, better signage & more lighting next time.

No fan or air conditioning

Posted Jul 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
The reception was lovely and the surrounding grounds beautiful. The rooms however were smaller than displayed on the website; there were no fans or air-conditioning. The water pressure in the bathrooms was hit and miss, along with the temperature control.

Was fine but the bar was a little small to eat and drink with so many people.
