Nice hotel awful reception staffPosted Jun 30, 2015
Pros: Breakfast and spa
Cons: Service! Bar prices
Location: Stratford and Shakespeare
Before arriving I called ahead to ask about a late checkout and was advised by a very rude woman that this wouldn't be possible, no need for such rudeness in the tone of her voice. The hotel is in a nice location and has a nice drive which makes it feel quite exclusive, the lobby is very nice too. I was disappointed as I had specifically asked for a double room and rang up to check this had been changed beforehand, we went to check in and the receptionist said it was a twin only. I told him this was not correct and it took him a good 20 minutes to sort this out, mumbling to himself and checking with the system while we waited and waited. We were both starving hungry and needed the bathroom after our long journey but we weren't told where we could find facilities we just had to wait. The hotel receptionist was also mumbling and was hard to understand. The room was tired and felt dated with a funny musty smell but it was clean. The bar and restaurant were extremely overpriced - £5.50 for a pint!! And it took ages to be served. When paying those prices I would expect table service! The pool and spa were lovely but the Jacuzzi was closed, disappointing as we were looking forward to that in particular. The breakfast was pricey at £10pp but it was large and very tasty and the breakfast staff were the only helpful staff at this hotel - very attentive and friendly.

Great hotel, family friendly except for children only being allowed in the swimming pool at certain times.

Not to the standard expectedPosted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: Location and grounds were nice.
Cons: Update and upgrade the rooms Increase in professionalism overall. I think it was in need of some more experienced hands.
Location: Main attraction is Stratford upon Avon which is a lovely place to visit
Had booked a double room but got given a twin. The room itself was fairly clean but had seen better days. Rust in the plughole, crack on the television screen, furniture felt old. The food was OK but the service lacked professionalism. They tried to serve us the wrong meal twice in one sitting. A very young (polite) staff could have used an older hand to guide them.

Very nice hotel. The bar prices are a little expensive. All in all a great place to stay, can get to lots of places very easily.

Pleasant country hotelPosted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: The overall ambience of the hotel was pleasant as was the situation and restaurant
Cons: Bedrooms: no 2-way light switches; TV too small for room; limited choice of channels; no pen or paper; poor shower design. No peppermint tea in hotel
Location: Close to Stratford Upon Avon and good access to the Cotswolds and Midlands
I stayed here for 2 nights, having breakfast on the first morning and an evening meal the first night. The food on each occasion was excellent. The public rooms and facilities are also excellent with plenty of lounge space, a lovely library, a bar and leisure centre. The hotel was surrounded by well maintained grounds in an excellent situation

Great for the pricePosted Feb 16, 2015
Just stayed for valentine . Great pool nice enough hotel if I had just a couple of issues I would say the price of the bottles of wine are extortionate and also the restaurant menu isn't that appealing not meaty enough . we ate at the chequers pub just outside the hotel on the two nights that we stayed.
