“Exceeded my expectations”

Having got what I feel was a great price for room only (cheaper than budget hotel chain) I have to say I was not expecting a great deal. However I was really pleased with the hotel, our room was modern in decor and recently refurbished. It was clean and with everything you could need including a flat screen t.v. I really liked the bathroom which felt modern and clean with a powerful shower and easy to use controls. Great location less than 10 minutes stroll from the very centre of Stratford through the lovely parks and accross the river. We decided to have breakfast in the hotel the next morning for an additional cost. We felt that the full breakfast (continental buffet and full english) was a little expensive so opted to just have continental which was very satisfying and I felt represented better value for money. All in all a pleasant stay and would definately stay here again if I could get it for the same price.

“Good for theatre trips to Stratford”

This trip was in relation to a theatre trip, which will be true for many visitors to Stratford. In the past, over the years we have stayed in most of the main hotels in Stratford, and we rate this the best at the price. The breakfast was excellent. we also appreciated being able to eat it until 10am, which is not true for all Stratford hotels. This can be useful if you've had a late night after the theatre. Room was a good size and comfortable...and not too hot, either, another common problem with some hotel rooms. Good position for a short stroll over the river to the theatres. And they don't charge extra for the car park, unlike some others.

We were given a lovely large clean room. The hotel was central to Stratford we had a very pleasant stay.

The hotel is well positioned, the rooms are clean and spacious and the staff were friendly. There is a nice real ale bar attached and overall I would return again if the price is reasonable. Only criticism is the fifteen pounds for breakfast, breakfast in town is a better option. Yet the set dinners in the restaurant are good value.

Just across the river from the town centre and the theatre, a comfortable hotel. Room was large, clean & well equipped. Pool etc at sister hotel across road. Would certainly recommend.

“A very good hotel in an excellent location in Stratford on Avon”

The hotel was easy to find and was centraly located by the river, a short walk from the theatres. It had good parking facilities, a considerable benefit in Stratford on Avon. The receptionist was pleasant and helpful. Though not large, the room was comfortable and clean, particularly the bathroom which was spotless. The single staff member at the bar was under considerable pressure, but remained courteous. Booked through Expedia, the hotel was extremely good value - I would have expected to pay at least half again what it cost..

“Wonderful Hotel”

This is a wonderful hotel, so close to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and Downtown Stratford-Upon-Avon -- just over the tramway bridge and your there! My husband had a hip disability and they were most accomidating, room on first floor, near and exit. The room was spacious extremely spacious and clean! One of the best we've stayed in the U.K. The mattress was not the most comfy but everything else made up for that! The breafasts were out of this world and the staff are Johnny on the spot with anything you may need or done in your room. I really appreciated the complimentary sparkling and still water. We were also able to take advantage of the indoor pool and spa in a sister hotel across the street! We will most certainly stay here again and any MacDonald propery when we are in the England and Scotland. Thanks to all who made our trip to lovely and memorable!

“Great hotel”

The MacDonald Swan has a great location, about 100 yards from the Avon and a short walk from all the tourist attractions, restaurants and shops. The hotel is very comfortable, with reasonably sized rooms and bathrooms. There is a large car park. The only negative is that the hotel restaurant is somewhat expensive, particularly for breakfast. Would recommend highly.

“Standing ovation in Stratford”

Perfect choice for a Stratford visit. Lovely riverside location just five minutes' from the theatre, the town and a sister hotel offering shared spa facilities. Staff were uniformly charming, breakfast was generous and the modern rooms comfortable and quiet.
