Historic family trip

Posted Jul 26, 2015
Pros: I really liked the kitchen, separate room, and the location.
Cons: The sleeper sofa's mattress and roll bed where, typically, not very comfortable.
This was the first time my kids visited Washington, D.C. We walked everywhere so it was imperative that we returned to a comfortable hotel room. Avenue Suites provided such a room. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room had a kitchen, which is always useful when traveling with children. The hotel was also conveniently located near a grocery store with which we are quite familiar.

Staff great, facility disappointing.

Posted Jul 24, 2015
Pros: Location. Staff. The front desk and parking staff were excellent!!
Cons: The sofa made me itch when I sat on it, left seating options of the bed or a hard plastic chair, which negated the whole "suite" thing.
The lobby smelled very strongly of a strong air freshener (or maybe an employee's cologne). The hotel's parking was full when I got there at 5 pm, but thankfully someone was leaving just as I arrived so I managed to nab a spot (thanks to a kind employee). Otherwise, I'd have been out of luck for the night and had to find street parking blocks away in the pouring rain. The room was clean, but the sofa made me itch...badly...as soon as I sat on it. Facilities in kitchen were old and worn but clean. When I went down to the lobby in the morning expecting to find breakfast options and coffee, I found just a few cold danishes and coffee - both for an a la carte charge. I would possibly stay there again because the location was very convenient, but I'd go in with lower expectations and only stay if I got a REALLY great deal on the room. Bring your own Keurig coffee pods because they only give you two and don't have any to offer guests in the lobby, except for $4 for plain coffee at breakfast!

Too expensive for quality and cleanliness

Posted Jul 22, 2015
Not much seating in living area, kitchen needs updating and had bad smell. Breakfast should be free, not worth $13

Best staff! i do think that the rate ia too much.

Posted Jul 16, 2015
The staff are really nice and very prompt when i requested aomething. The only thing i dont like is that the bathroom has no fan, i believe the rate is too much too. Wireless internet is really slow and we have to disconnect and reconnect to it.

Great hotel with amazing staff!

Posted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: The cleanliness and the staff!
Cons: n/a
Location: Great location - trader joe's, subways, the lake, and Georgetown are all nearby.
Avenue Suites was amazing. The hotel had a decent gym facility, a really nice outdoor area for guests and a great lobby. The staff were amazing; each person at the front desk was so helpful and would help whenever we needed it. They also were real warm and greeted us whenever we would leave and go into the hotel. The hotel was conveniently located in a prime area - trader joe's was close by and we were so close to Georgetown. We were able to walk around Georgetown before our brunch plans, right by the lake too!

Great location and staff!

Posted Jul 13, 2015
Stayed for 4 days and loved the location and staff! Short walk to Foggy Bottom subway which gets you pretty much anywhere you want to go. Short walk to Georgetown for some great meals and shopping. Waterfront in Georgetown is also a great spot to spend an evening. Staff were fantastic. Helpful, cheerful. Loved the option of the kitchenette which we originally were only going to use for breakfast but ended up having a dinner too. Trader Joe is across the street and has pretty much everything you need for meals for a short stay. Rooms are large and clean. Kitchen is a bit dated and the vent over the stove howls like a banshee but it was not a big problem given that we only made one quick meal. The only con we had was that the room was not made up until past 5:00 p.m. Our room was the last one to be made up each day. A bit late for our liking as we tend to go back around that time to freshen up and then go out to dinner. Not a big deal but it would be nice if the room had been ready by 3:00 or so. Have to day we would staff there again without hesitation. Great place for a visit to Washington.
