Very Nice HotelPosted Aug 19, 2014
The hotel was very nice. Conveniently located for sightseeing and metro subway. The bar & grill were good when you wanted to just chill out. Parking, although a bit expensive, was adjacent to the hotel. The rooms were very clean and well kept. The only problem I had was the elevators which operated by key card (good idea) but were having some issues the days I was there. I would recommend to anyone!

Visit to tour DCPosted Aug 16, 2014
Cons: A tourist information desk would be nice.
Location: Locations is best asset. Things to do nearby and within very quick walking distance are too numerous to list here.
Enjoyed the hotel - the close proximity to DC attractions was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had limited time; just 3 nights. Had to cram a lot into two days of so many attractions. We drove up from Charlotte via I-81/I-66 to see mountains, parkway, skyway, etc. We drove back via I-395/I-95/I-85. The traffic around DC (Friday mid-day) was horrific! We drove at a walking speed for the first two hours of out return trip. Getting to and from the hotel from any of the freeways, however, was a simple matter.

Perfect locationPosted Aug 14, 2014
Overall good experience and price but the train was out side our window and every morning workers were working on a room right next to us and we felt the drilling shaking our room. I called the front desk and they told they would have a manager call... No one ever called. We walked everywhere in dc when we got back everyday our air was completely shut off which was not refreshing. The store in hotel is tacky but the Starbucks and restaraunts are a plus!! Pleasant staff clean linens everyday. Very nice room!

Nice Hotel but worst meal ever in the restaurantPosted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: Location and roof pool.
Cons: The restaurant could be improved by shutting it down.
Location: 2 blocks from the Air and Space Museum on the Mall.
We had stayed at this hotel twice before many years ago. The location is perfect for the Smithsonian museums on the Mall. There are very few restaurants close to the hotel so, since we arrived late, we chose to eat in the hotel restaurant for the first night. Big mistake. This was our worst dining experience ever. The staff gave us the wrong menus at first. The waiter didn't offer us drinks - we had to ask after he had taken our order. When I asked for the wine list he brought the desert menu! The service was slow. We weren't offered desert but we were offered coffee just after our mains had arrived. The waiter hovered around us throughout the meal and made a show of examining every guest's check before they had left the restaurant. At least one family left before their order was taken - we should have done the same. Dreadful! Never again. The room was over the railway which was noisy at times but the room was very comfortable and well equipped. The hotel car park (directly underneath) is expensive but probably about what you would expect for the area. We enjoyed our time in Washington and would probably stay at the hotel again. However, I would recommend anyone planning to stay at the hotel to request a room at the front of the hotel (away from the railway) and at all costs avoid the restaurant - there are some really good places on 7th St NW about half a mile north from the hotel.

Good news / Bad news.Posted Aug 13, 2014
Cons: Room 357 has a plastic air baffle that blows air directly on the person sleeping on the queen bed next to the windows. Re-engineer this.
The good news is that the hotel was clean, friendly, close to the US Capitol, Air & Space, all the museums on the Eastern half of the Mall, and a Metro stop. The bad news is that the air conditioner blows directly on whoever gets stuck sleeping next to the window, and worse, the back wall of the hotel is a stone's throw from some very active railroad tracks. There were freight trains coming and going at all hours of the day and night. Pretty hard to sleep when a train sounds its horn outside your window! If you get a room at the front of the hotel (the North side), it is probably a good deal. The back of the hotel (the South side) was horrible.

Good quality hotel close to the CapitolPosted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: The room service was excellent, as were the hotel workers; they could not have been more helpful. The location was ideal and security strong.
Cons: The breakfast options were a little limited. The train track, but that improvement is unlikely.
Location: The location was excellent for the Capitol area and the museums, as well as the Metro. There was a supermarket, a MacDonalds and a Starbucks nearby.
We were in Washington to see the main sites and the hotel was placed excellently for this purpose. The museums were just a few yards away. The Metro was also nearby and so travel further afield was straightforward. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and answered questions efficiently and pleasantly. Taxis were called, bags collected and food delivered without problem. The hotel also had options for breakfast and for dinner. Nearby was a supermarket, a MacDonalds and a pizza place. So having a teeenage son, this was ideal. We also attended a baseball game at Washington Nationals and the journey there was easily completed from the hotel. The room had a large TV, a fridge and a big clean bathroom, as well as coffee making facilities. The room was also cleaned everyday and the cleaners did not trouble us. The only drawback was the train track under the window, but we got used to it. The area around the hotel seemed deserted at night. All round, a very good stay.
