Nice hotel, horrible experience

Posted Jan 22, 2015
Pros: Nice rooms, good location; we have stayed at this hotel in the past, but would not in the future. Our disappointment was with how this was handled.
Cons: Management of a problem with guests.
At 1 AM in the morning there was a very loud party taking place in the 10th floor hallway (top floor). This continued until 3:30 in the morning. We made a number of calls to the front desk only to be told they "are working on it". Each time we called, the party noise would settle down for 10 minutes, and then resume. We were about ready to check out of the hotel at 3:30 in the morning when it finally settled down. Management said they were "trying". We believe they should have called the police in.

Excellent hotel, incredibly friendly staff

Posted Jan 20, 2015
Pros: Everything, the whole package, but mostly the friendliness of the staff who all seem to go the extra mile to make you feel truly welcome and special.
Cons: Nobody is perfect, but this hotel comes pretty darn close to perfection. I really have no idea what to recommend for improvement.
Location: The location is great: minutes away from Dupont Circle, a brisk 20 minute walk from the heart of Georgetown, lots of green space and jogging around.
Without a shadow of a doubt, I can say that the Hotel Palomar (Kimpton Hotels) on 2121 P street, Washington DC, was the most pleasant surprise I have had in years. I was visiting from Brussels, Belgium, and had spent a few days attending a conference in a conference centre elsewhere in town. I had planned a free wekend in DC at the end of my conference and wanted a change of scenery. Through Expedia I found Hotel Palomar. It looked good on paper. So I booked. It was much better in reality. Walking in on a cold day, it is a pleasure to see the warm gas fire in the lobby, and the warm colors of the decor. All this was matched by the warmest of smiles and friendly welcome from the reception staff. I arrived way early, normal check in time is 3 pm. No problem, my room is ready. Enjoy your stay! Next pleasant surprise: the room. It had everything a weary traveler could possibly want, it was clean, spacious enough and very comfortable. Finishing touch: an umbrella in the closet, just in case. I needed it! The in-house Urbana restaurant is incredible, and I had the best pork chop of my life there. But nothing beats the friendliness of the staff, all of them, without exception. The star for me was doorman Nabil, who took so good care of me and even drove me to the airport in the hotel town car. He was also a most pleasant chap to chat with and we became friends for life. I truly felt that the Palomar hotel was a "home away from home". YES, strong recommendation for this gem!!

Wonderful Dupont Circle Hotel

This was our second stay at the Palomar and it is a wonderful hotel. The special care they provide to all of their guests is outstanding. Coffee and happy hour for the adults and hot chocolate and milk and cookies for the kid. Walk to Dupont Circle Metro and shopping and dining on Connecticut Avenue.

Perfect for My Needs

Posted Jan 12, 2015
I cannot recommend this hotel enough! I needed a nice place at a good rate near where I needed to be. Hotel Palomar met these expectations and more! I had a business engagement on Friday and wanted to see the Phillips Collection Saturday morning so I chose Hotel Palomar for its close proximity to the gallery and for the excellent price of $143.00/night. (plus ~$50 parking). One bonus was that I could keep my car parked in the hotel lot until 4:00 on Saturday which allowed me and my friend to spend as much time as we wanted at the gallery and strolling around the area. The staff were exceptionally friendly, from the front desk staff to the valets. They were a joy to interact with. The hotel was clean and modern and had a very pleasing "feel" to the décor. The wine and hot toddy bar Friday evening was a very nice touch. The room was clean and welcoming. And the hotel still offers for-purchase movies, which many hotel have done away with. I was incredibly impressed with this hotel and highly recommend it.

Hotel was perfect for a family trip to DC.

Perfect location, close to metro, Georgetown and within walking distance to mall. Staff couldn't have been more accommodating and milk and cookies for kids was a great treat. Parking was a bit expensive but worth it.

Nice hotel, great location

Posted Dec 31, 2014
Pros: location
Cons: TV way to small for room
The staff was great, the location was great, the room was overall pretty clean. Small things: television not great, no vent in bathroom, pet friendly but they didn't tell us that before so we didn't ask for a room that did not allow dogs and my grand daughter had an allergy attack.

Fresh and elegant; "must love dogs"

Posted Dec 30, 2014
Great location: a short walk into Rock Creek Park in one direction, everything-DuPont Circle in the other + surrounded by easy amenities (market, coffeeshop, $ restaurants). Staff was incredibly helpful. Hotel is beyond dog-friendly--beds, bowls, no fees, treats by the door. My pup was as relaxed as I was!
