L'Enfant Hotel was terrible

Posted Dec 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
I was under the impression that this was a nice hotel. WRONG. Since they would be closing for year long renovations, the front desk staff was extremely unhelpful and did ot care to assist me with my needs. The hotel has a vry old look, and they charge you for everything. This was the owrst hotel I have have ever stayed in. I have been in motel inn's that were more luxurious then this. I would never stay here again

Disgusting

Posted Dec 3, 2013
We arrived at the hotel and it was very difficult to find the hotel. The entrance was very obscure and there was no sign for the hotel itself. When we finally got up to the room, the room was disgusting. There were stains on the floors, the furniture and the walls. There was a used band aid on the floor and the toilet was not clean. we immediately went to the front desk and they tried to give us another room but the conditions were only slightly better. We went back down to the lobby to check out but no one could give us our money back. It has been four days since then and we are still fighting to get our money back. It was a major disappointment and we would never go back.

great location - filthy room

Posted Nov 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
Location was great. The room was supposed to be smoke free, but it stunk from high heaven with smoke. The carpet was nasty. The toilet ran all night long. The TV and alarm clock were 1970 model. The alarm clock was grungy and nasty as well as the phone. I literally would not walk on the carpet without my shoes. The view was nice and rates were great. They offered to change rooms, but I checked in at 1:30am. I doubt another room would have been any cleaner. Oh, only one elevator was in service and the ice machine on my floor was out of order.

Close to Washington DC Mall area.

Cons: It is an older property. A bit of construction around the area.
Location: Near to Smithsonians and Washington Mall.
Good services, location and to metro.

Pros: Location. That's it. I would not make reservations here again.
Cons: Send the staff to customer service training.
Location: Walking distance to the mall.
Staff was rude and service was bad. Another guest in the bar waited an hour for waitstaff to take her food order and no one showed. She had to walk up to the bar and complain. Front desk staff was unfriendly, snippy, and unhelpful. TV went out in the bar and they did nothing. Hardly any cable channels in the rooms.

L'Enfant Hotel for long weekend in Washington DC

Posted Nov 21, 2013
Pros: Loved its location to everything we wanted to see. Very quiet.
Cons: Restaurants downstairs could've been open on the weekend.
We had a very pleasant experience at L'Enfant Hotel in Washington DC. Arrived very early in the morning after driving from Baltimore. The staff was quick to check us in and gave us a very nice room with a view of the Mall. The accommodations were professional and clean. The hotel seemed quite empty, and at no time did we find the restaurants on the lower level open, but we wanted to eat at different places than the usual chains, so we weren't too upset. Nice Starbucks stand in the lobby. Only two blocks from the National Mall...dead-center. A block-and-a-half walk to the mass transit station. Was nicely centrally located. All-in-all, we had a nice stay.

Not bad I guess

Hard to keep the room warm, not a single free amenity, and beware of parking fees! $40 per night + tax! The view might've been nice had there been no major construction. I'd pick nearby places first next time.

Perfect Location

It's so convenient to have the Metro station and modest shopping mall with a variety of fast food restaurants just below the hotel. Hotel was very clean and quiet. Only surprise is that the hotel charges $12.95 a day for internet access. There is a business center with two computers, but in this day and age, paying for wireless in a hotel is a cheap shot!
