Hotel rooms are very small and quaintPosted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: Breakfast provided and lovely old building
Cons: Front desk did not seem secure and all keys were just sitting out....sometimes there would be no one at desk.
Location: Very close to convention center

Hotel with characterPosted Jul 10, 2014
Pros: Very comfortable, clean rooms, all with interesting decor. Staff were unfailingly pleasant, especially both Teshome and Gadissa at the front desk.
We enjoyed a recent stay at the Morrison Clark. It is an historic hotel, decorated in an original and charming manner. A change from the standardised hotel chains. Its location is fine, being a reasonable walking distance from a local Metro station, and from a very wide range of sights of central Washington.

Historic Hotel close to DC City CenterPosted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: Historic building and decor
Cons: A warning about the construction would have been nice.
Location: Short walk to downtown DC and H Street shopping/restaurants, about a mile from the White House and National Mall and from Union Station
I only stayed for one night, but it was wonderful! I arrived early, and the front desk staff were welcoming and offered to hold my luggage without my having to ask. They also offered me a bottle of water, which was great because it was 95 degrees outside, and had complimentary sweet tea and cookies available for guests. There was construction going on outside of my room, which was a little loud in the morning, but it didn't bother me, as I was there on business and was up and on my way anyway. The room was clean and was a nice size, and the bathroom was quite large.

A Good Place to Stay For A WeekPosted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: design, staff, facilities and services all good
Cons: windows seriously dirty, spoiling the view. Shower curtain moves in and attempts to engulf the showerer. Breakfast ingredients never varied.
Location: Only 15 min walk to National Mall. 5 min walk to a Supermarket
Spacious room. Good design & décor (reconstructed Victorian mansion). Many powerpoints. Fridge. Good large TV with many channels. Large bed. Pleasant bathroom en suite. Good quality free breakfast. Friendly & helpful staff. Only 15 min walk to National Mall. 5 min walk to a Supermarket.

Grand Old Lady Down on Her LuckPosted Jun 27, 2014
Cons: See review. Better bathroom amenities, better room layout, better breakfast.
Location: Not terribly close to anything but Convention Center, so if you are there for a convention, might be convenient.
Had Christmas dinner here years ago when I lived in DC so was eager to try the hotel. Disappointment...construction closed sidewalk in front and was noisy (no one warned us or gave us discount), room was tiny and the armoire door where the TV was didn't even open all the way because the bed stopped it (that's how tiny) plus the cable kept going out so nothing to see on TV anyway! Bathroom could have used a magnifying mirror and better amenities. Breakfast was a joke...all carbs and CHEAP -- a shame because the room was not cheap and I know they have a full kitchen. Finally, they advertised as being close to the Verizon Center, where we had a concert. They are a full metro stop away so we would have been better off all around with a different hotel.

Old world charm in downtown DCPosted Jun 7, 2014
I stayed at the M-C for more than a week while on business in DC. It is very convenient to the Metro (4 blocks from Metro Center Red Line) and many downtown businesses and agencies. The facilities themselves are nice, but could use a facelift. The bathroom, in particular, was tired and did not look it had been updated in 20 years. But the bed was comfortable, the climate control was good (essential in DC!), and the staff were attentive.

Nineteenth Century Victorian hotelPosted Jun 5, 2014
The hotel is rather old and would present access challenges to anyone not able to walk and climb stairs. It is being expanded by the construction of a new addition that should be ready for occupancy in the fall of 2014.

Cute and comfyPosted Jun 2, 2014
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Morrison Clark and look forward to staying there again in the future. It was very quiet, clean, and comfortable. Our bed was great. We did have to ask for another set of towels since we had 3 staying in our room but there were only towels for 2. However, we considered that a small matter. We love the very old décor.
