Old but Appropriate and clean.

Posted Apr 23, 2015
Pros: cost
Cons: beds / mattresses
Location: need to supply parking or cut rate at a local parking lot with transportation to or from
Beds were extremely uncomfortable, $5 for continental breakfast was a joke and horrible when you can go to a local convenience store and get an HOT egg sandwich and cup of coffee for the same $5. parking was a chore.

Good location, but inexpensive for a reason.

Posted Apr 21, 2015
Pros: The location is great.
I stayed here with my elderly mother, and it was an... okay experience at best. The location is great-- Dupont Circle has a lot to offer-- and the place was passable, but certainly on the cheaper side for a reason. No refrigerator, aging decor and furniture, beds that were passable but no more than that, and generally poor workmanship on the woodwork (door frames were screwed in, a sign of a quickie and unskilled job). The Bier Baron is loud but not intolerable. The fights and sirens, somewhat louder. Were it me staying there alone, I would regard it all as a colorful, Orwell-like "Down and Out" kind of experience. (I've stayed in some weird hotels in Finland, Brazil, one in Budapest that could have been a set for an Underworld-series vampire movie, and even the Easy Hotel prefab plastic rooms in London.) However, if you need a higher level of comfort, another hotel might be a better choice.

Nice place!

It was great - old hotel, rebuilt. You do have to do stairs to get in, and the elevator is small, BUT I loved it. Very friendly staff, always ready to help. Great location.

Downtown paid for what it was worth

Not the most fantastic hotel I have stayed at in DC but the bars downstairs are fun.

Reasonable rates, very walkable

Posted Mar 29, 2015
Pros: Location, price. Bar was pretty cool, too.
Cons: I used the stairs several times. Not surprisingly, there's a slight lean to them.
Location: Dupont Circle and it's galleries and shops. Rock Creek Park. Embassy Row. Be sure to check out Books for America and Soho Tea and Coffee.
Stayed here during a business trip, since it was at least $100 less than the surrounding hotels. The Baron is an older hotel, and she's showing her age some, but my room was clean and comfortable. The manual elevator was cool, if a bit tiny. Being on the 4th floor, in the back, it was also quiet - understand it can be a little loud there depending on the show in the bar. Very easy walk to the conference location, skirting Rock Creek Park. Also very easy to walk to, and around, everything Dupont Circle has to offer. And, you're less than a block from a coffee shop and bookstore - how can you go wrong with that?

Great location,dumpy condition

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: It was conveniently located.
I stayed at the Baron because it was cheap and located near my son's apartment in DuPont Circle. It is an elderly building sorely in need of paint and amenities. There is no parking.

Economical. Nice location .

Here's the deal. This is a solid two star hotel. Nothing fancy. The rooms are oddly shaped. The furniture is mismatched and kind of reminds one of goodwill finds for a dorm room. One of our headboards was very tenuously attached to the wall. The ceiling tiles were stained and illumination came via an overhead fluorescent panel (like you'd see in an office bldg.) Positively, the bathroom was very clean and newish. The linens on the beds were crisp and clean. The carpet was clean. The staff were cheerful and helpful...even arranging a 4 am taxi to the airport for us. I would go back.

This is an older hotel, with small rooms, older furnishings and fewer amenities (e.g. no iron in room). The room was clean and the staffperson checking me in was friendly. Customers just need to have appropriate expectations for the class of hotel this is. It is about a 10 minute walk from Dupont Metro, with many restaurants nearby.

地下鉄駅に近くて便利、値段も手ごろ

Posted Mar 15, 2015
Pros: 立地条件と値段
Cons:
