a vibrant area with a neighborhood feeling

Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: The staff was cordial and helpful at all times. The rooms were beautifully decorated and clean.
Location: There are various restaurants with excellent food, banks, parks, coffee shops, a wonderful book store, and the DuPont Circle Metro station.
We enjoyed a long weekend in the hotel. The accommodations were excellent with full amenities. The room was much larger than we have experienced in other DC hotels. The staff of the hotel was friendly and knowledgeable. I lost my cell phone and hotel employees went out of the way to try to help me find it. I received a phone call the day after we came home to inquire about it. The Fairfax will definitely be our choice hotel in Washington, D.C.

Silverfish

Posted Sep 7, 2014
Found a silverfish on the bed the first night. Thought maybe just a fluke. Found one on our bed the last night thought better spray this room. Told the front desk and they just said " Oh, sorry"

Understated luxury

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: everything
Cons: nothing
Location: few minutes walk to metro station
Excellent hotel, quiet , understated luxury. Good location in Embassy Row, a few minutes walk from the Metro on DuPont Circle. Comfortable bed, all amenities, friendly staff, plenty of places for breakfast and dinner close by, easy metro access downtown, would definitely stay there again. Thank you

Labor Day Weekend Getaway

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Expedia deal
Cons: Nothing keep up the good work
The hotel was great the rooms were on the small side but were tastefully done. The staff went out of it's way to make our stay a great experience. I can not say enough good things about the doormen, we had rented some bikes and every time we rode back to the hotel they took them and stored them inside and got them back out again when we were ready to go back out. everyone from the front desk to the housekeeping department made you feel like an honored guest. Our next trip to DC we will not have to look any further than the Fairfax. Thanks again for a great weekend.

We do regret to read that you felt the value of your stay did not match your expectations. Not every guest uses every service that we provide, which is why we feel it is a better policy to charge our guests for only the services that they use while staying here. WiFi is complimentary in all public areas of the hotel and metered parking is available on the streets surrounding our hotel. Thank you for sharing your perspective with us.

Hotel much further out from the main attractions

Posted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: Overall decor rather old worldly and very pleasant
Cons: Make wifi free to rooms lika all other hotels we stayed at in USA
Overall friendliness of staff ok but frequently no one to assist. Not disability friendly. Astonished to find free wifi means 13.95 per night to your room, highway robbery. Wouldn't recommend for that reason alone. Not close to places for eating

It is disappointing to hear that your recent stay with us did not meet your expectations. Our convenient Dupont Circle location offers our guests a wide variety of eateries, boutiques and museums to enjoy and our Concierge would be glad to assist with suggestions in the future. We understand that certain fees can be inconvenient, but we find that only charging for the services that each guest uses is a better policy. Thank you for your comments regarding your stay; we hope to be able to re-gain your trust with a future stay.

Enjoyable week.

Posted Aug 25, 2014
The Fairfax is very attractive and comfortable. Location is ideal! Less than two blocks to the Metro, restaurants, shopping, museums and a CVS pharmacy. The staff was always pleasant, knowledgeable, and helpful. We plan to stay at The Fairfax when we make D.C. our vacation destination again.
