Brilliant location and fantastic experience in a hotel with character. Food was good. Slightly noisy on main street at night but not a problem. Would definitely stay again.

If only the staff had been better trained

Posted May 14, 2015
Pros: Location, the room and general decor.
Cons: Staff training as above.
Location: Close to main station and domestic airport. All of Washington's main sights around the National Mall are within walking distance.
Hotel very well located, in a very attractive historic building and decent sized rooms with period decor. Breakfast and dinner were great subject to the following: What could have been a really great stay was spoilt by what appears to be either a lack of staff training or competence. Of 3 receptionists, only one had any personality and made you feel wanted. Although the hotel is only 25 mins walk from The White House, a receptionist gave us completely wrong directions to get there. With only 3 tables taken, at breakfast, which is served a la carte, having delivered a large cereal first course, the waitress arrived 30 seconds later with our Eggs Benedict, which we wouldn't have been ready to eat for another 15 mins. At dinner, again with only 3 tables taken, the restaurant manager had forgotten the specials, until we reminded him. The waitress poured our bottle of white wine straight into the glasses without allowing us to taste, replaced the top, and placed it in an ice bucket without a napkin, so that each time she poured it, water dripped all over the table. When asked about her training she said she had no idea about offering a bottle to taste, that wine needed to breathe, or any of the other rudimentaries. If the management could address the above then there would be nothing to detract from this hotel.

Superior Hotel

Posted May 12, 2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Location: It was perfectly situated in proximity to the conference center and local ships/dining. Couldn't asked for a better setup.
Everything was above expectations, and a unique accommodations experience - a refreshing departure from chain hotels.

good hotel! I feel comfortable here. However, it is not convenience for public transportation. Instead, you can walk 10minutes to the White House. Also, it is near China town where has a lot of choice for everyday's enjoy.

Great hotel with character in a very nice location

Posted May 5, 2015
Pros: I liked hotel's character, size, cleanliness & sense of order, staff & location, in equal measure. I thought it was great & would choose it again
Cons: I did not master making tea in the coffee machine and there was still a coffee flavour
Location: Downtown Washington is super. I loved it; outdoor spaces, parks, the Mall, the national monuments and above all the museums
Everything went smoothly. I stayed for three nights during which I explored the city. It was very easy to get to the main cultural attractions and the metro was not far. I did not try the food or the bar but there was a very convenient and attractive lounge next to reception, ideal to wait for friends

Great stay, great staff. Just one little comment...looked like someone had used the bathroom after it had been cleaned and left some rather unsanitary garbage in the trash can... Otherwise, everything was just perfect!

Centrally located-close to subway and Starbucks

Posted Apr 27, 2015
The staff was professional and helpful. The entry and lounge had a lot of character. The room was clean and comfortable. We were on the fifth floor and heard some traffic, so I wouldn't stay in lower floors. There is no air cconditioning, was my understanding, so I would stay at the Henley in cooler months.

Cold room and fairly noisy.

Could do with better insulation - temperature and noise. Breakfast expensive due to limited options.
