Best End

Posted Jul 29, 2015
Location: Walking distance to Dupont Circle and Georgetown. Trader Joe's 2 blocks away and a Whole Foods 3 blocks away. For munchies a 7-11 around the corner.
I was looking for a nice boutique hotel in the West End that had a full kitchen and was in a quiet area. The River Inn answered every query. Nestled in the middle of a quiet tree lined street 2 blocks from GWU the River Inn gives you a sense of residency in this beautiful neighborhood. We were 3 blocks from the Foggy Bottom Metro station and walking distance to Georgetown. The staff was amazingly polite and accommodating allowing us to store our luggage after an early arrival and a late departure. I plan on making this my standard Washington D.C. hotel for upcoming stays.

Great location with handy kitchenette

Posted Jul 26, 2015
Pros: Location, kitchenette and sufficient beds in the room for our teens.
Cons: The decor was tired and the kitchenette was a bit shabby but still functional.
Location: Near Foggy Bottom subway. Easy access to the Mall with the Smythsonian museums, Mall, monuments, Kennedy Centre and Georgetown.
This hotel was great for its location near Foggy Bottom subway and a 10 min walk from the White House and Georgetown. The kitchenette was really useful too as we are on a long holiday and don't want to eat out all the time. The most useful thing was that the hotel room catered for our teens who don't want to share a bed, with a sofa bed and rollaway bed. Staff were lovely. However the facilities were tired.

Several problems with room but good location

Posted Jul 22, 2015
Clean room, good location BUT many issues: * shower keeps shutting off * hot water pipes run too close to cold so you basically only have steaming hot water out of your basin taps * high speed wifi doesn't live up to expectations and is slow and keeps disconnecting * we booked a family room for 6 but only got 3 bath towels! * housekeeping rearranged everything (our personal belongings) in room. Felt uncomfortable.

This hotel is old, but they keep it clean and a kind of updated. It's a very good option at this part of DC.

Pros:

Nice comfortable safe hotel

Posted Jul 5, 2015
Pros: The location was excellent and felt very safe with a location convenient to everything our family wanted to see.
Cons: A little more attention to detail when painting and cleaning after renovation work. I have been in the Hotel business for 19 years so I notice detail.
Location: Close to everything. The Metro station was 5 minutes max. The Monuments and White House were a 25 minute pleasant walk. Smithsonian 9 mins on Metro
The staff was excellent and very helpful. From check-in to check out everything was very professional. The room was everything that we needed. The little kitchen saved us big bucks and we felt very safe in the community surrounding the hotel. I was initially concerned that renovations were being conducted in adjacent rooms but we were never bothered by any noise.
