Amazing location

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location!
Cons: The toilet paper
Location: Its gives you the great feeling of DC with the White House very close to you
Our room was extremely spacious! The location could not be better right in the middle of everything! The staff even greeted us with a gift for our baby! Everything an Intercontinental should be...

Historic hotel in a great location

Posted Aug 23, 2014
The Willard is a beautiful and historical hotel located near the White House and monuments. The room was large, clean and very comfortable after a long day of sightseeing. There are also some fabulous restaurants including MXDC Cocina Mexicana nearby. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting DC particularly if it is for a short visit where everything is at your fingertips.

Beautiful Building, Mediocre Amenities

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: Location, hotel architecture and historic significance.
Cons: The little extras that many high-scale hotels use to make guests feel that they are being pamapered in exchange for the top-market room rate
Location: Walking ditance from the National Mall and most major monuments. But get on the Metro and in a cab to find DC's best restuarants, which are not near.
We live near DC and knew of the Willard's historic significance, oppulance and great location, so we stayed there with our kids as a "stay-cation." The architecture of the building is stunning, our room was also decorated very nice with a beautiful view of the sidewalk cafe and National Mall in the distance, and the staff was very attentive. On the other hand, do not expect to get ANYTHING other than a room for your fee. Even Wi-Fi carries an extra charge (STARTING at a whopping $12/day). The room minibar prices were almost laughable ($5.25 for a can of soda, $4.50 for a regular-size Snickers bar, etc.). Given the room prices, one might expect SOMETHING to be included, but quite the opposite. The buffet breakfast at the hotel restaurant ran $113 for the four of us, with tip. Of course, one could simply choose not to purchase these extras, eat elsewhere, etc. But one cannot choose different beds. The bed comfort and quality of the linens (think Motel 6-quality, rough/stiff sheets and lumpy pillows) was the most disappointing aspect of our stay. That is inexcusable for a hotel that purports to be of this stature.

V/Good hotel for business and the sights !

Pros: It's convenient location to where I was working.
Cons: A ramp to compliment the steps up to the Lobby and Reception.
Just an overnight stay . . the room was plush and very comfortable.

Nothing is better than the Willard in DC!

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Location: Across from the White House.
My wife called ahead telling them she would. Arrive early in the morning asking if they could accommodate her and when she arrived a room was prepared at 9am rather than having her sleepy in the lobby until the official 3pm checkin time. But that's not all , when she checked in the gave her a large room facing the White House! Her stay was memorable thanks to the Willard and it's s staff!

Great Hotel, except for $15 coffee in room?

Posted Jul 17, 2014
The hotel was great, only thing I disagreed with was paying to make coffee in the room $15 first for me?
