Ask about the available rooms

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Everything was comfortable and the staff was fine. The one weird thing was l booked two 2-person rooms at equal prices but the rooms were very different. Besides being on different floors, one had a lot more furniture and space. It's possible this was due to me booking last moment. But anyway, considering this, I would definitely ask about the details of whichever room you end up getting and if possible ask for 311 because it has a nice view out the front of the hotel (also it was the nicer room).

Quaint hotel in close proximity to many DC sites

Great 2 star hotel with friendly staff. Only problem was the parking; I had to park at the Hilton and walk about a mile to the Windsor Inn, other than that it was a great little hotel to stay at.

Outdated decor but comfortable in a great location

Posted Aug 8, 2014
Stayed in two different rooms first room was a queen bed second room was a suite. Both had more than adequate space. Newly refurbished bathrooms. Free Wi-Fi that actually worked in room 303 but very spotty in suite room 212 on ground flor. Both staff that I dealt with were wonderful extremely helpful in every way. No parking provided by hotel tho staff were helpful to give the insider info of when to park where. Towels and bed linens were great. Very reasonably priced through Expedia. I will stay here again.

Okay hotel with some set backs

Posted Jul 29, 2014
I am a student who stayed at this hotel for an out of state interview. The hotel falsely advertises that it includes a continental breakfast. The hotel staff informed me when I got there that it was in fact not included. It cost extra and it only consisted of "cereal and a few muffins." This would not have bothered me if the hotel did not specifically indicate that breakfast was included. The hair dryer in my room was also broken, which was not ideal when rushing to make an interview. Overall, the room was very small and the building was extremely old. The internet was slow and would not load any websites or videos. The staff did not even know the name of the network connection, I had to find it myself. This hotel was okay for one night, but I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay.

Home away from home in DC

Posted Jul 11, 2014
Pros: We liked everything about this wonderful little place.
Location: It is conveniently located near "The Mall" where the visitors can see most of Washington DC's historical buildings and memorials.
We were looking for a cozy family type of hotel and we found it. The staff is so friendly and warm that we felt at home every day we stayed there. The building is an early 20th century house and the rooms take you on trip down nostalgia road to a time things were simpler. Breakfast is served every morning and you can start conversations with the other guests, who may come from all over the world. It is a nice way to start the day and make new friends.

Good stay. Comfortable. Nice outdoor sitting out front. Would've got a 5 if the coffee was fresh and the water container was filled. That will be easy for them to correct for better customer service experience.

Charming hotel in a cute area

Posted Jul 9, 2014
The hotel is in a great area surrounded by neighborhoods and local shops. It is a historic-seeming hotel and almost has a B&B feel to it. The downside is that it is a trek to walk to Capital Hill and parking is impossible.

DC funky and cheap

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Pastries at breakfast were outstanding both mornings I was there.
Location: The U Street Metro station is about 5 blocks east, at 18th and U Street. DuPont Circle is a bit further SE. I walked west to the Hilton for my meeting
The Windsor is in an old building that has been remade into an inn. My room had a bed, desk, TV and sink, and the bathroom had a redone shower and toilet. The bed was comfortable. I was attending a conference about six blocks away and needed a cheap alternative to the $200 a night at the conference hotel, which I walked to and from. The front desk folks are fabulous, friendly and helpful. They let me store luggage all day until I came back from events after 8 pm. The breakfast is a continental buffet of cold cereal, juice, coffee and pastries. The pastries were amazing, nicer than I expected! This is not a hotel for people who cannot navigate stairs. You have to walk up and down a few steps to get to the breakfast area. I enjoyed talking to other guests over breakfast. Getting into and out of the hotel requires climbing up some steps outside and steps inside. You likely will drag your luggage up and down yourself, so plan ahead and pack accordingly.
