"Trip to washington for two persons."
We spent a week in the hotel. Upside Very friendly hotel staff. Responsive and attentive. Downside The restaurant is not up to the standard. Is average or less , the breakfast buffet limited, and more expensive than surrounding hotels. The menu is limited and the quality not very good.

"Very isolated, on a college campus but quiet"
The hotel was very expensive for what it was. The carpet was stained, the beds were very uncomfortable and the shower floor felt like it was extremely weak and could cave in at any second. Another downfall is the parking garage is about a five minute walk (a little bit of a hassle if staying with small kids).

"Great location, well maintained, comfortable hotel"
My first visit to DC and I enjoyed it very much. I was out sightseeing everyday and coming back to the Washington Plaza at the end of the day was a welcome repose. The buffet breakfast was great, lots of choices, and the freshly made omelets were especially good. I would often not eat again until dinner. The pool area with its spacious deck and plenty of lounge chairs felt more like Hawaii than DC. I would stay there again.

"Great hotel!"
The Omni is a great hotel to stay at. There are so many things to do without leaving the hotel. The view from the east wing was beautiful. The food is delicious, and the pool was refreshing. The hotel staff is very accommodating and they go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. I would definitely book another room.

"No free internet? Really?"
Room was on the small side - more space being taken up by an unnecessarily GIANT TV screen, which we didn't need at all, and just checking in the morning revealed itself to contain only pay-per-view movies. Also, Internet was NOT free. Would have loved a little more space in the room - for the discounted price it was OK, but wouldn't pay more! Robes in the closet were a nice touch and bed was very comfy.

"A Memorial day weekender with my teenage Son "
Caught a cab at Union Station to the Hotel. Express reservation is the way to go. Show up with your itinerary, grab your room keys, go to your room. Room was very clean and comfortable, a 2 double bed variety. Wonderful HOT powerful shower on the 4th floor. Bed was very comfortable and had extra pillows - for me that is a BIG plus. TV was modern with several cable choices. HYVAC worked good. Metro was our plan to sight see D.C, and the Navy Yard Metro station was just a 3 1/2 block sidewalk stroll. Hotel restaurant had great food, breakfast and dinner. Lunch, you are on your on. Wonderful accommodations, and friendly helpful staff. I would return to this facility again, not even shopping around. It had all the essentials I needed, and they were good quality.

There are also hotels near Washington, DC, situated in the city’s surrounding areas, such as Alexandria and Arlington. These cities are just minutes away from the D.C. action, but they also feature their own attractions, such as The Pentagon in Arlington and Old Town in Alexandria.

    Transportation

Travelers can book rental cars in Washington, D.C. but driving around is sometimes best reserved for the areas outside of the city.

In the heart of the D.C., it’s best to walk. Many of the must-see attractions are within walking distance of one another, so trekking on foot is one of the most convenient, and often only ways of arriving at each destination.

Besides walking, the Metro offers an easy way to get around. The Metro has lines that service areas within Washington, D.C. as well as cities in surrounding Maryland and Virginia. The Metro system also includes Metrobuses with more than 200 bus routes in the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia areas, including stops at all the Metro transit stations.

    Travel Basics

The National Mall is one of the main attractions in Washington, D.C., but oftentimes visitors underestimate how much walking is involved. Also, the Mall focuses mostly on the historical attractions, galleries, and museums, so eateries are few and far between. For the most enjoyable sightseeing experience, pack comfortable walking shoes and stock up on snacks and plenty of water before trekking the Mall.

If your dog is joining you in D.C., he can visit the Lincoln Memorial and the Capital Crescent Trail with you. Play fetch on the National Park, or take a jog together in Rock Creek Park. The nation’s capital also features a variety of restaurants and even “yappy hours” in which your pup can join you for dining and socializing.

    Weather

If you’re looking to visit Washington, D.C. when the weather is pleasant enough to walk around without feeling uncomfortable, book a trip during the spring or fall. Spring presents temperatures around 60 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. In autumn, the heat from the sweltering summer has tapered off, but it has yet to welcome the frigid winter temperatures ahead.

Visitors often underestimate the city’s overwhelming heat in the summer and the chilly degrees in the winter. Summers in Washington, D.C. present sticky humidity and temperatures ranging from the 80s to around 100 F, with August usually serving up the warmest temperatures of all. As for the winter months, the city often averages temperatures around 30 and 40 F, with the potential for snow. If you plan on traveling during the summer, stock up on water and breathable clothing, while winter vacationers will want to pack the works: jackets, boots, scarves, and mittens!
