"Best hotel in Waterford"
I stayed 2 nights in June on a touring holiday of southern Ireland. It is a historic hotel which has been modernised to a high standard without losing its period charm and character. It has a superb location on the Quay in the centre of Waterford: all the sights and attractions of the city are a short walk away. My room was on the third floor at the back and was very quiet and well appointed. The hotel has a grand dining room in which I had an excellent dinner one night. Breakfast was good, though I had to wait quite a long time for my cooked breakfast to arrive.

I wish I had more time at the resort. I would love to return one day and stay a week. We only stayed one night but loved the place. The lodge was great for 6 people. 3.5 baths and laundry facilities made it wonderful. Beautiful place. Friendly people.

"Excellent location but tired hotel"
Firstly the location is excellent and the staff could not have been better. I had a very friendly lady at the reception desk. I only stayed one night but the rooms are looking a bit tired and need some freshning up. It is a standard 3* hotel in Ireland. The bed was big and comfortable but a new coat of paint would work wonders for the room. Breakfast was excellent so much choice and very tasty. Overall I would stay again when I factor in the value for money and location.

"Good hotel on periphery of tourist area"
Hotel was generally good. Clean comfortable standard 4star rooms. One light not working in entrance to room. Receptionist super efficient. Breakfast average. Not much selection prior to finishing time. Hotel is at furthest end of centre to the main tourist area but there are car parks all along the waterfront. The hotel carpark was full because se eral cars parked over two spaces. This meant off street parking had to be paid for overnight.

"Nice hotel a short walk to central Waterford city."
I stayed for three nights. The hotel has a covered car park, a decent bar and a restaurant with very good team of dedicated workers and even the manger can be seen working along side rank and file staff. I quality of the food is average, the fish chowder excellent and of course the beer of Irish class including helpful bartenders and friendly waiters and waitresses.

    Where to stay in Waterford

    Your Guide to Waterford Hotels

Located along the south coast of Ireland, Waterford City is the oldest city on the island having been founded in 914 by the Vikings. This Viking influence is still felt throughout the city to this day, with the Viking Triangle being one of the most popular areas in the city, for visitors and locals alike. The Viking Triangle is the cultural and heritage quarter of the city, introducing you to the magic of this old city. Characterised by narrow, cobbled streets, the Viking Triangle is home to galleries, museums, cathedrals, churches and the city walls.

The Viking Triangle is also one of the most popular areas in the city to enjoy food and drink, something that Waterford is enjoying a growing reputation for. If you want to enjoy the very best of local produce in Waterford, be sure to visit Bodéga and McLeary's, both a short walk from the Viking Triangle.

    Hungry for Heritage

While the Viking Triangle introduces you to the culture and heritage of the city, a trip to the House of Waterford Crystal will introduce you to their most famous export - crystal. Enjoy a tour of the factory and watch as the team of master craftsmen shape and produce magical pieces of Waterford Crystal before your very eyes. For lovers of arts and crafts this factory is a must see. Witness everything from the mold room and blowing department to the sculpting and engraving area.

Relive the medieval days of yester year in Waterford by visiting one of the many castles located in the county. Two castles that are a must see are Waterford Castle and Lismore Castle, both equally impressive in their own way.

    The Sea Breeze

It's not just great food, history and lots of culture that makes Waterford one of Ireland's most popular holiday destinations, it's the long stretch of golden beaches and popular seaside towns that have visitors from all over Ireland, and further afield flocking here every year. Towns like Tramore, Dunmore and Dungarvan are all home to some of the finest blue flag beaches in Ireland. Whether it's a day at the seaside with the family, or a weekend surfing break that you‘re after, Waterford's beaches will certainly keep you entertained hour after hour.

Another popular part of Waterford City is the port area, which is one of the most popular cruise ship areas in Ireland. Waterford has a strong maritime tradition and the city Marina is located at the port in the heart of the city, providing easy access to many popular shops, cafes, restaurants and bars in the city center. With regular festivals throughout the year, the Port of Waterford is a popular destination for many visitors to the city.
