From Wellesley Island, Syracuse is 90 miles (145 kilometers) to the south, and Rochester is approximately 110 miles (177 kilometers) to the southwest.
While it may be tempting to simply sit back and relax while visiting Wellesley Island, keep in mind that Adirondack Region's diverse natural and man-made attractions are never more than a day trip away. Watertown, is another good spot to explore. It is around 25 miles (40 kilometers) from Wellesley Island and offers a diverse range of attractions, such as Burrville Cider Mill, New York State Zoo at Thompson Park and Fort Drum. Dry Hill Ski Area, Sci-Tech Center of Northern New York and Thompson Park a few of the other popular places worth visiting for those who have more time on their hands.
