“Moderately price hotel with a decent location”
Budget travelers will like this hotel because it provides a decent location (can walk to the water/city center) at a reasonable price. Don't expect anything fancy, this is a no-frills type of hotel. Parking is extra (and the garage is kind of a pain) and be prepared to walk up/down a hill from the main drag to access the hotel.
“good value in wellington”
good value for the money. clean, quiet, decent location although up a steep street for walkers. i got a room with a view but windows needed cleaning. staff very friendly and helpful. internet is extra for more than 1/2 hour, and breakfast is pricey at $20NZD.
“Clean Comfortable Modest walk from downtown”
The hotel is clean. The television required a bit of a warm-up time before it was viewable. The beds were comfortable. The hotel is built on a hill overlooking Wellington. The walk to downtown is short, just a few minutes, perhaps a ten or fifteen minute walk depending on where you are going. The hotel is probably not suitable for those who would be on foot but unable to walk a short distance up hill. If you are driving then this does not matter. The view is nice from the hill. We found the hotel acceptable and would visit this hotel again when we return to Wellington.
“Great hotel, expect for the lack of gym amenities”
My room at the Mercure was great; clean, beautiful city view, quiet. The hotel website had also listed that they had a gym on the premises. That was untrue. There was a 15 year old treadmill, non-working stationary bike, and an elliptical that kept shutting off. If you are looking for a place to stay that is in a quiet location and walking distance to Cuba street, and don't need to workout while you are here, this is the hotel for you.
“Good”
The hotel was very nice, room was comfortable and clean. The beds were so comfortable. The front desk was not too helpful, I asked them if they could print out my boarding pass they said yes but 45 minutes later she still could not figure out how to do it.
“Does what it needs to do”
This was a nice hotel. It was clean and had what it needed to have. The front desk staff was helpful, but it took awhile to get someone to come to the bar to get some food, so I ended up leaving. The room was a nice size and had the basic needs covered.
