Location & StylePosted Mar 10, 2014
Pros: The Calm and excentric host the beautifully restored interior of the house location so close to everything
Cons: the arragence of some guests . maybe get a new zealand road code instruction book
Location was great just a few minutes walk to the city and on the city and airport bus route , the rooms were nice and clean with pleanty of hot water for the showers, the breakfast was continental , a choise of six to eight cearals with tea, coffee juice and as much toast as you like , for the cost of the accommodation i thought that this was very good , As for John the manager well some reviewers have commented on his mannerisms and all i can say to that is that while i was there , i overheard a conversation between himself and a couple from the UK regarding car parking . ( john loans guests council permits to put in there cars while they are at the Richmond so they can park outside on the street and not get a fine ) but the women concerned who had actualy parked her car facing the wrong direction and also had the tail of her car well over the white line , and john was trying to explain to her that although the permit alowed her to actualy park out side she would still have to improve here parking and obey the law , she was going on about the stupid laws over here where we come from she was saying you can park anyways , she was not in a listening mood and john was trying to explain to here that it was the law of the country not just of Wellington , i have to admit that john was very patient , the women did improve her parking but later commented to me on Johns arragant attitude, I understand that she would have recieved at lease $120 in fines .

Hi Mary Well im'. sorry that you didn't' like my place , i advertise it as an historic villa meaning its' over one hundred years old this is why I have had all the ceilings re plastered with fancy old cornices etc' and also why i have colonial architrave throughout around doors, windows and skirting boards and had four lead light doors specially made to go with the historic theme , as for the TV in rooms or tea and coffee well its only a little two star b&b not the Amora and as for the old TV well like most folk I have Sky TV so i presume there was an old movie on when you happened to view it , someone once said you get what you pay for john

Very disappointingPosted Feb 23, 2014
Pros: Close proximity to town.
Cons: air conditioner, towel racks, tea making facility, non racist host.
Location: Very close to town and attractions.
The room was musty. Not even a towel rack to hang towels. Husband asked if he could bring cups of tea to our room Friday night. Took cups up next morning and told in front of other guests cups should have been bought up the night before as he only had six cups and eighteen guests. Told we should have locked front door to stop early guests arriving. Door was already unlocked. Very rude to lovely Indian guests. Made them and us very uncomfortable. Proprietor interfered with our conversation with unfavourable remarks. Not a good example of Kiwi hospitality to our overseas guests. I apologised to them on behalf of New Zealanders. He wore no shoes and only socks on the Saturday morning to serve guests. If we could have found other accommodation in Wellington, we certainly would not have stayed there. Clean towels in our room, but no waste emptied. He is definitely not a suitable host for a guest house. Told us after Indian couple had left, that he had put old jam on their tables. He said he was a good betting man and knew which table we would sit at.

Location is greatPosted Feb 14, 2014
Disappointing in that it appeared to be a well presented and renovated property, but was not any where near that. Would not stay there again

We arrived earlier than normal check in time. John invited us inside and offered us cup of coffee, very nice! It's a very central but quiet place. I would definitely come back again if I visit Wellington again
