Retreat suitable for large groupsPosted Mar 13, 2013
Cons: distance from Wellington
More than 25km from Wellington. Some local services lacking. Free Internet access is limited to 50mb for 48 hours. Not really enough for even casual use. Front desk closes early. Had to get three versions of Internet password before one worked. And that was after the front desk closed.

Looked and sounded lovely from hotel. Com's review so booked last minute. Was not aware it was an old US naval hospital from WW2 in the process of being renovated. Parts of the complex was in disrepair but our unit was completed and was nice. The reception manager was extremely helpful and was a pleasure to deal with. The downside of this hotel is its quite expensive, no hair dryer in the room we had and very limited wifi access. Wouldn't stay there again but could have potential when fully renovated.

Silver might need to change to goldPosted Mar 5, 2013
Great place to stay, but you will be far from the Wellington CBD but overall a very nice place with good fittings and air con in the room.

Multiuse conference facility in middle of upgradePosted Feb 15, 2013
Pros: Our room & quiet location
Cons: Staff not that familiar with tourist info.
Location: On a hill away from everything. Not walking distance from any services.
Our room was great but entire facility is in process of a major upgrade.

Silverstream - great retreatPosted Sep 21, 2012 on Hotels.com
great place to rest and forge the world. even with a big party around, i heard NO noise. Good tv channels but must organize the internet to reach far rooms. I can stay there again, but they need to have breakfast and perhaps a gym room. But to sleep and rest , it is a good place.

Curious RetreatPosted Feb 7, 2012
Curious place, room was very good ( except they don't provide hair dryers). The overall development is very much work in progress as accommodation is in ex WW2 hospital on outskirts of Wellington. Not sure if they think they are a motel, conference facility or retreat.

Silverstream Retreat - FantasticPosted Feb 6, 2012 on Hotels.com
This was a fantastic hotel. While the refurbishment of the Motel is a work in progress, the new room we stayed in was great. Clean, comfortable, warm with a great decor. The staff were fantastic and extremely willing to help with anything at all. I cannot recommend this fabulous place enough. I will definitely be staying there again.

Country Stay within reach of Wellington.Posted Feb 5, 2012
Pros: The soft sheets
Cons: The bathroom fan attached to the light switch.
Location: Spectacular scenery.
This is a country reatreat, only 30 mins from Wellington. Was very happy with the experience. Stokes Valley has many cafes and food outlets, so even though it is not on the premises it is well off set. Breakfast can be pre ordered for the morning, we did not get the opportunity as we had to leave very early.
