We arrived by ICE train from Frankfurt and took a taxi to the Eden Hotel. It would've been too far to walk from the train station with large bags. On another day, we walked to the train station to take the train to a village near Hanover to tour a castle and the walk was a long walk, but fine. The Eden Hotel is beautiful. Old and gorgeous. Some old hotels feel as if they are need of repair. This hotel is NICE! The breakfast room is beautiful and everything is decorated like they are serving high tea. They serve the usual German breakfast (fresh baked breads, thinly sliced meats & cheeses, fish, fruit, granola, yogurt, coffee, tea, juice, water...) but also serve scrambled and boiled eggs, sausage and bacon. Because of Expedia, breakfast was included in our rate; but this is not normal. The price, if we would've had to pay for breakfast, would've been a good value. We discovered on our second morning that they also served Macchiato and Cappuccino instead of coffee, if you prefer. Nice. The room was spacious and comfortable. We loved the windows that looked out to the neighboring German homes. We also loved that we could open the windows to let a fresh breeze come into the room. The bathroom was a tiny bit larger than a cruise ship bathroom. The shower curtain touches you during the shower. Everything worked and was nice. We were in a non-smoking room on the second floor & never smelled smoke inside our room; but in the hallway, the smoke smell was strong.
