"Nice hotel with easy drive to downtown Charleston"
As you might expect, our visit started at the front desk. Essence was our check-in lady and she was excellent! She was friendly, efficient, happy, knowledgable, and helpful. We asked for a recommendation for dinner and she did not disappoint. We ended up at the Glass Onion, a local restaurant serving local fare. Very good food, good service, good everything! We used the indoor pool when we got back and found it to be very nice. The room was large, with a sitting area and a big, comfortable bed. The next morning we enjoyed the free breakfast which was okay (pretty typical sausage, eggs, cereal, waffles, etc). We had come to Charleston for a Saturday cruise. But, since it was February and we were driving from Ohio, we decided to come in on Friday. We spent the night here on Friday night, went into the historic Market area of Charleston for a few hours on Saturday morning (well worth the visit), and got on the cruise on Saturday afternoon.

West Ashley (population 54,000) was the site of many battles during the Revolutionary and American Civil wars. It is noted as the original site of Charleston by English colonists in 1670. Today, the historic site is known as Charles Towne Landing and it features Charleston’s zoo, gardens, and a reproduction of a 17th century sailing vessel.
