West Lothian, Edinburgh Hotels
Due west of the capital, much of West Lothian is industrial and of limited interest to tourists. Where it meets the Firth of Forth however, South Queensferry is a charming small waterside town with great views of the magnificent Forth Bridges. Boats go from here to peaceful Inchcolm Island with its ruined abbey. Nearby is the grand 18th-century pile of Hopetoun House, and the splendid ruins of Mary Queen of ScotsÂ’ birthplace, Linlithgow Palace.
