Not a good value

Posted Mar 28, 2015
Cons: Don't use the fact that you've got a captive group in an isolated location to stick it to your guests with such high prices.
Location: Total isolation. You needed to take a shuttle to the strip.
The rate seemed reasonable so we booked. Upon arrival we were told the room we booked was not available and the front desk clerk was unsympathetic to the fact we "reserved" it. She told us, in a less than pleasant tone, that our bed configuration was a "request," not guaranteed, and that was the end of the discussion. The entrance area of the room smelled like an unflushed toilet, and the shower provided slightly more than warm water. Housekeeping was marginal and coffee for the coffee machine was not in the room for the first morning. Everything is so over priced it mitigated any value we thought we were receiving for the room. Resort fees, a $5.00+ ATM charge (to get money to simply give back to them for the gambling, which admittedly is our choice) and ridiculously expensive food and drink. Went to get a 6-pack of Corona from the gift shop to take up to the room and it was $32.00! We declined. The casino staff made us feel as welcome as a herpes flare-up and the staff at the various restaurants and bars weren't much better. Don't do the seafood buffet! It's a complete rip-off. All in all, there have got to be much better values and overall experiences to be found at the hotels on the strip. I'm sorry we didn't do a better job of researching prior to booking the Rio.

Close to the strip, great spa to relax in

Posted Mar 28, 2015
Pros: The proximity to the strip, the helpfulness of the staff, the great coffee facilities in the room, the great and varied restaurants located within.
Cons: A few minor things such as the curtain track in the room not being attached to a corner of the room.
Location: I liked that you could walk to the strip or catch the free shuttle, that taxis were easily picked up from the front
Friendly efficient service, great views from the hotel and great gym and spa facilities.

Rio Hotel Las Vegas

Posted Mar 27, 2015
Pros: The restaurants located in the hotels were excellent! Great food, decent prices, great variety. The pool area was quite nice too.
Cons: There are a lot of improvements that could be made. Too many to list.
Location: Located right on flamingo and i15. A stones throw from Vegas blvd. There's lots of trouble that can find you. Can't talk about what happened in Vegas.
Classic Vegas strip hotel/casino experience. If you choose valet parking, you get front door service. If you choose self parking, you get back door service. If you are a full price payer, you get top notch accommodations. If you are a frugal Expedia shopper, you get the worst room on the list. We came in the back door, walked to hotel registration which is on other side of the casino. We got our keycards, and had to walk all the way back to the back door as this was where elevators to our tower were located. I guess it's not possible to have a guest registration desk at two locations in a hotel. Asked for a non smoking room, and didn't get one. It was like they pumped the casino air directly into the air circulation for the masquerade tower. It was eyes burning, cough inducing, nasty stank. The in room safe was locked, asked the hotel services to send up someone to open it for our use, they never did. The room was well appointed, bed was comfortable, bathroom in decent shape, but did not have a ventilation fan. I woulda had that thing running 24/7 to help with the smoke smell. Unfortunately, the Rio is part of the Caesars hotel group, which is bankrupt. This hotel is hurting, big time. Most of their promenade shops are boarded up, closed, or empty. The casino has nothing in the way of free entertainment or sideshows or displays. There were a lot of podiums that just sat empty. The slots were the tightest I've ever seen, and we heard similar stories from other people.

Love the Rio free transportation

Posted Mar 27, 2015
Pros: I guess I will say the food, night life, game is more relaxed and the free shuttles to and from the strip...
Cons: Room cleaning time and TV services.. And late check out with out paying for extra day.
Location: The Palms, Pole Position Raceway we went like 5 times this week with our group in for trade show great time. Shelby Auto Museum also a great stop
This is about my 15 or 18 stay at the Rio ... I thank that says a lot..!

UPGRADES

Pros: rooms, casino,
At check in I was upgraded to top floor suite. Beautiful room. Bigger than many apartments I've lived in. Staff was great too. I'll be staying here from now on.

Nice hotel off of the strip

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Great customer service. Nice sized rooms. Adequate food and entertainment in hotel. They are in need of some minor updates, but for the price of this place, you can't beat it!
