Excellent food and accomodation but awful shower!!

Posted Jul 2, 2012 on Hotels.com
Hotel had recently been refurbished and it had been very well done. The food at night and breakfast in the morning was excellent! The only thing stopping us from giving it an excellent rating was no water pressure meant no way you could have a proper shower - it was like standing in a drizzle! When mentioned to the staff they said they were aware of the problem affecting certain rooms and were looking into fitting a water pump. Just wonder why they didn't do it when they were carrying out other works? Having said that if they fix it (or make sure we don't get the same room again) we will definitely be back!

Great for Dogs

Posted Sep 30, 2011
Great place to stay. We took our two dogs as we have to many places before. They were welcomed with a bowl and biscuits, we could also take them in the pub for food which was great. Very friendly staff too, a really great place to stay.

Set in the centre of a magic town thereìs swan inn. If you want to live in a tradional English style go inside. Ah the food was delicious and the restaurant wasn't expensive.

Although the decor is a little 'tired' staff friendliness and helpfulness more than made up for this. Good location, good food, fresh milk for tea/coffee etc in the room each day - a welcome and unexpected surprise.

Swan hotel - no thank you!

Posted May 20, 2011 on Hotels.com
This hotel was very disappointing. Its location in the heart of Arundel was great but nothing about the accommodation was good. Our bedroom was small, dark with a small poky window and very shabby. The tv was flat screen but tiny and had a loud, constant buzz that made viewing impossible. The ceiling paint was peeling and cracked. The bathroom tiles were mouldy and several were missing. No soap/toiletries had been provided - I had to ask for a bar of soap. Toiletries appeared only on the second day of our weekend stay. Sound- proofing was very poor so the hotel was really noisy. We asked for a second small stool for the room as we wanted to watch the cup final- this request was refused. Sitting on the bed the tv sceen was too small to watch the match from that distance. The final straw came when we went into the pub eating area to order an evening meal and were told that the kitchen had just closed for a 'deep clean' - no notice had been given about this. When we left we were asked if everything had been ok. We recounted our complaints and the member of staff just said they had mentioned the need for refurbishment to management- turn up the volume I say !! This hotel compares unfavourably with budget hotels both on price, service and facilities. Location should make this a winner- it's an also ran at present.

Swan Hotel- good food, great location

Posted May 5, 2011 on Hotels.com
Nice little place very convenient on the high street, and a really good menu, breakfast was lovely. Room was comfy, clean, compact but not pokey, reasonably firm bed which suits me. The decor's a wee bit stuffy but it's traditional and cute enough altogether. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Do allow a bit of time for street parking, or money to pay at cark park next to it.

Swan Hotel, Arundel

Posted Apr 20, 2011 on Hotels.com
The Swan is very centrally located in the lovely town of Arundel. Service is a bit hit and miss - breakfast staff were lovely, cleaning staff not so much. The cold breakfast buffet could have done with being refreshed more often but was very pleasant but the English breakfast would certainly not be in my top 10. However the hotel was ideally located for trips to Chichester and Bognor Regis and we found some quiet pubs in the back streets of Arundel itself and had a very nice meal in the India Gate two minutes walk from the hotel.
