Absolutely FabulousPosted Oct 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed one night, but would love to stay there again. The hotel and the grounds are superb, staff very polite, helpful and knowledgeable about surrounding area and the hotel. The room was one of the snug doubles but it was more than adequate, the bed was extremely comfortable, the sheets and duvet heavenly, if I could have taken them home with me I would, tea/coffee/hot chocolate facilities, hair dryer and mini toiletries all made it more than worth the money. The restaurant was divine and the bar had a wonderful old worldy feel about it, big comfy wing back chairs and sofas dotted around to sit at. The breakfast was very good, catering for everybody's needs, the lady sharing our table (as we were sat at an 8 table) even had gluten free toast, really did not want to leave and go home.

lovely hotel spoiled by constant wedding partiesPosted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: good breakfast and friendly staff
Cons: It's not great value considering the size and quality of the room and I actually don't like hotels that are dedicated wedding venues.
it,s a wedding venue ,so normal guests feel ill at ease. the rooms smelt damp

Needs some TLCPosted Aug 4, 2014 on Hotels.com
A quaint hotel which needs some investment and TLC to bring it up-to-date with modern expectation. Noisy corridors when trying to sleep, lack of 4* expected in-room facilities, a good breakfast however and very friendly staff.

Caring kind staff and servicePosted Jul 13, 2014
Arriving late tired and hungry around 11 o clock, the staff produced us fantastic beef and horseradish sandwiches and pots of gorgeous Yorkshire tea so we settled down in bed to enjoy, before we slept well. All the staff where so helpful and the hotel a beautiful old tranquil spot with a fantastic well kept garden. What's more the hotel refused to charge us for the tea and sandwiches.

Great location close to city / town, with a rural ambience. Front desk staff a little aloof and disengaged but still great service. Evening meal (room service) and full English breakfast were both excellent.
