Beautiful setting

Posted Jul 24, 2015
The hotel is in two parts,on the island stands 18th century Walton Hall with restaurant bar and pool, while on the mainland stands the accommodation and breakfast room.Picturesque with a bridge linking the two it's popular for weddings . Golf and fishing are also attractions . We chose it for a leisure break as it's only a few miles from the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Hepworth Gallery. We'd certainly come back to explore more of West Yorkshire.

Beautiful setting and lovely trails nearby

Quiet surroundings on the pennine trail and part of the Wakefield wheel lots of walks around the area. The food was fantastic and would recommend the beef medallions. leisure facilities are small.

Relaxing night away from the boy

Posted Apr 23, 2015
Lovely setting. Chilled out in the spa which was OK but in need of updating. Bed was really comfortable but decor a bit dated. Nice meal although chocolate dessert a bit disappointing. Lovely breakfast. Would stay here again on the same deal.

Island Hotel

Posted May 22, 2013
Pros: The breakfast was made to order not a DIY buffet
Cons: The road to the hotel is a bit differcult to follow
Location: The setting is unique and memorable
This unique Hotel is a Georgian House that has been built on an island in a lake surrounded by a golf course. There is an indoor pool and fishing from boats offered. My room was spacious with a lake view and balcony. The Staff were very helpful and the food was very good. The Hairy Bikers were staying there when we were there which is a good recommendation for this hotel.

Lovely, but overpriced.

Pros: The views, and the character of the hotel. Surrounded by water.
Cons: The room needed up-dating.
Location: Very nice - very peaceful, and had a countryside feel.
Walton Hall and the surroundings were beautiful. I think the hotel is undergoing a re-furbishment, but the room we were given seemed to need one. That said, the room was still very pleasant, with lovely views. One of the rooms we saw that had been re-furbished was stunning.
