Reasonably priced Hotel in George

Posted Mar 1, 2014
Pros: Location especially it's proximity to George Golf Club, the bar snacks were amazing especially the chicken wings (suggest share a portion)
Cons: The Buffet
Location: Golf course next door and La Laconda restaurant, staff are fantastic and food is wonderful
A resonably priced hotel in a good location, however the dinner buffet is basic, overpriced and definitely not good value for money, having complained to the duty manager, Wayne, he invited us to be his guest on the following night to experience the a la carte menu, even though we had planned to dine out we decided because of his offer to visit the restaurant again however when we arrived at the restaurant we were told by the staff it was Wayne's night off, so the offer was of no value whatsoever, we did non the less stay and experience the a la carte menu which was OK however there is a very good choice of restaurants in George and La Laconda on York street is excellent

Pros: Good customer service
Cons: Exercise facilities would be good
Enjoyed our stay, though missed having exercise facilities. Will recommend the hotel and will definitely stay there again if in the area.

Quaint hotel nestled in a neighborhood

Posted Nov 12, 2013
Pros: Great location a safe part of town.
Cons: Update the furniture and remodel the bathroom. It was quite gross.
Location: Not sure... was just passing through.
It's a nice hotel in a safe part of town. Close to some grocery stores. Hotel furnishings were a bit dated and the bathroom could really use a remodel. The fixtures in the bathroom are so old, they still have separate hot and cold taps. Don't be confused by the room description of it having a lounge. What they really mean is that it's one room with beds and a couple chairs and a coffee table. There's physically no divider between the room.

The food was not the greatest. Needs some improving and takes way to long once ordered. When we arrived there was no one to assist us with the luggage

Hotel & staff were great. there waas confusion between Hotels.Com advertisement for free breakfast and the hotel's expectation--not included. Helpful staff corrected it. Great breakfast.

The Hotel appeared run down. There was mold growing in the room and bathroom and I sneezed all night. service was fine.

Protea George

This is a very beautiful hotel, very well presented and very new. The bar is very reasonably priced and the staff are friendly. The rooms themselves are novel, in that they are presented as "1 room homes" arranged in a housing estate style complete with parking space..- you drive to your "home" from reception rather different than the usual style of hotels ! The only down side was this hotels location... it is on the extreme outside edge of George by the road to Oudsthoorn, it takes some 10 minutes driving into the town. It is also impossible to find.. it's location close to a rugby stadium, behind a housing estate and down narrow lanes.. you really have to question who's idea it was to build a hotel at the rear end of a local housing estate ! The directions on line did not help, nor did the road side advertising.. even after 2 days we still had difficulty getting in and out to the main road ! even when using the hotel's own printed map.. which bore no relation to the local roads or even the road names ! Other than that this hotel is great.

What an amazing hotel, especially for the price. The staff was exceptionally friendly, the rooms were really comfortable, and the grounds were breath taking! I would recommend this hotel to anyone considering visiting George.
