"Good place!"
The rooms are typically small to HK so do not expect to put 3 large suitcases in room and have some space. However hotel is very clean and has very helpful staff. They even arrange a taxi with 15% discount. Not a central but very nice location, just one block from tramway so getting around without luggage was almost perfect.

"Worth every penny!"
This was my first time staying in Hong Kong but I knew not to expect too much from any hotel room considering it's quite similar to Manhattan real estate. Even my friend who lives there told me not to expect much more than a shoe box, especially for the price I was paying! The room was super huge, it was very nice and modern and clean. At the same time, it had all the amenities that you would normally have at home which is a definite plus. This is really not a hotel, more of a condo away from home. When my friend came to visit me at the residence, she was surprised at how big it was! The view was great and it was very convenient to walk to the MTR (subway) from there. It took only a 10-15 minute walk which is very reasonable I think.

"Change the bed mattress once in a while."
Check in was no problem, but didn't know I had to have 500 HKG deposit. Fortunately, I had exchanged enough to cover it. Room looked small but ok until I laid on the mattress. I rolled off. One half had been completely crushed down. The mattress couldn't be flipped because of a cut out on the bottom due to a post.. So I endured because we checked in after 10 pm. The next morning at breakfast I complained and asked for a new room, or the mattress to be replaced. I was politely told no problem. That evening I returned and nothing had been done, they were full and tough luck. It isn't our problem was their attitude. I was going to lose it. I went to my room and cooled off. I returned, they said they weren't going to do anything today, but tomorrow I had to pack up and have everything in the lobby by 10 am and that I could check back in at 2pm. I made sure I got it in writing, next morning we packed and left our bags before 8am. We had a full day planned. Returning at 3 our bags were in the room. The mattress was well used but bearable. The remainder of our stay was nothing special. Maid service only exchanged the towels, it didn't change used tea cups, also they barely swept the room. Also, the final day when we were able to eat breakfast, the bread was different and they brought out a very old toaster that was so dirty it would have taken 10 years of use to make it look that way. Hong Kong was great though.

Pocket Guide: Hong Kong Western District Independent Hotels

Get a feel for the Hong Kong of old. Start at the Chinese Central Market (the tender-hearted should avoid the lower floors, where poultry butchering takes place) on the corner of Queen Victoria Street and meander down narrow laneways where herbalists and other traditional shopkeepers display their wares. Don’t miss the world’s longest outdoor escalator, at 880 meters, which also provides sweeping district views.
