Western Tokyo Vacations
From Western Tokyo, Yokohama is 17 miles (27 kilometers) to the south from here and Chiba is about 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the east.
Leave the mundane world behind for a while and throw yourself headlong into a place of imagination and thrills at Sanrio Puroland and Seibuen Amusement Park. Don’t miss these two whacky and often educational attractions, offering thrills and laughter for visiting families.
Sometimes melancholic, sometimes wonderfully romantic, the castles and other strongholds surrounding Western Tokyo are always good to tour. The Hachioji Castle, a local landmark, is an example of how noblemen lived behind the thick walls and protected their families from enemy armies.
In this culture-loving city, be sure to investigate the interesting museums, including the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, where discerning visitors can learn and be challenged. Savor the quiet spaces, ask the friendly staff about any special events, pick up a souvenir at the gift shop or just explore the relics of the past.
Treat the family to a visit to Tama Zoo, the primary zoological park in the area. If you don’t have much time, stop by the information counter and grab a map to locate the park favorites.
