Pros: Country Setting
Cons: Many - see comments - training of staff, waiters, restaurant, to be more accommodating and flexible.
Having booked an Executive room - very disappointed. Room 2111 was assigned to us - more like a box room - very hot, old, something like the 1970s - poor lighting. Room was very dark and overlooking hotel roof building. We then raised our concerns and dissatisfaction to the reception staff, who claimed to be fully booked, and said if we paid an additional £35.00 we could stay in a Deluxe room. I had mentioned to the hotel, our stay was for a special occasion, and please make a note on our reservation. Eventually, the hotel manager allocated us another room which was a deluxe room - upgraded for additional £20.00. I must add the room was better than the original room, the beds are very uncomfortable. Furthermore - the TV reception (Channel 3) was of poor quality. We had booked the "Half Board" rate includes dinner from the A La Carte menu. I must say there is no flexibility from the menu so beware - as this is a set menu. Breakfast service was better - although buffet - nothing special. Overall, very disappointed , and would not recommend this hotel for future stay.

Hotel grounds beautiful and well maintained. Main areas of hotel very characteristic and charming. Staff friendly and hotel kept clean. Some of the rooms are in parts of the hotel where it has been extended over the years and are in need of redecoration and updating.

Room far too small for two people, my fault, I should have complained before accepting the room.Next time I will.

I had stayed here previously and not had the best experience. This time however it was much better. The room was comfy and clean, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely old building as well.

Excellent hotelPosted Feb 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
Excellent hotel, convenient for business, and with all of the amenities that you could want for a business/leisure stay. Food was excellent, although I only tried the bar menu. Hard wired internet access in the rooms, could be improved with wireless

pleasant hotel choicePosted Mar 30, 2006
Nice hotel with lots of character; a good choice for leisure travel. The reception staff was very helpful with area information and attractions. I would have appreciated more casual dinner choices (besides burgers in the bar), but overall a very positive experience.
