Excellent affordablePosted Dec 23, 2013
Pros: location price friendly staff
Cons: the price is affordable but it's been steadily rising.
Location: Wheeling Nailers Hockey, Customs House, River Front Festival, Casino, Festival of Lights, Vaudeville Theatre next door, shopping
Excellent property convenient indoor free parking. Great staff and affordable centrally-located with a view of the river from the 6th floor. If you are in Wheeling, this is a good place.

Very disappointedPosted Dec 8, 2013
Cons: Everything. New staff, updated rooms and cleaner.
We were treated rudely from check in to check out. We reserved a King room, were charged for a king room and was told that when we made the reservation that there wasn't even a King available. I asked for a receipt and was told...you booked through Expedia...we don't have to do anything for you. Ask Expedia. Rude and dirty, moldy and just disappointed.

Throw back!!Posted Nov 26, 2013
Pros: we liked everything
Cons: Maybe use retro christmas decor, making an even bigger impact to the old fashion appeal it already has.
Location: walking distnce to everything downtown Wheeling
My hubby and I had a wonderful time. The Mcclure Hotel has a old fashion Christmas appeal to me. The grand lobby with its chandelier and Christmas decor. Our room was a king suite, perfect for us. The wall paper was a little peeled but really who cares. The restaurant served steak that was to die for, yummy. Shout out to the young lady behind the bar in the pub! She did a great job and we enjoyed her company!

Walking distance to Capital TheatrePosted Oct 24, 2013
Pros: Its proximity to the Capitol Theatre.
Cons: see above under 'experience'
Location: see above under 'experience'
We travelled to Wheeling to see Willy Nelson at the Capitol Theatre. The hotel staff were welcoming and efficient upon arrival; room was clean and comfortable and there is a parking garage. The hotel itself is generally very tired looking; the 'red' carpet at outer entrance should be thrown and replaced - or at least thrown; very scruffy and in need of repair. Inside, however, there are some interesting old photos of days gone by showing its heyday; lobby must have been grand in its day but was full of stacks of tables etc not currently being used so not appealing to walk through; entrance and lobby do not present a good first impression. Elevators are slow, small and old/worn out looking. Complimentary breakfast not worth it; packaged buns, non-dairy granules only for coffee, no fresh cream or milk. The restaurant on site is open for breakfast so maybe the hotel is trying to steer folks there instead. The hotel is located close to the Capital Theatre which attracts big name entertainers and for that reason and because of the friendly staff and the cleanliness of the room we would stay there again but the owners really need to make some effort to the entrance/lobby areas.
