“Very convenient, very good value”
We visited the hotel for a 3 day Thanksgiving ski vacation. The location was excellent, being a very very short walk to the main lift loading area for either Whistler or Blackcomb mountains. The hotel was not super fancy, but we did not expect that for the price we paid. It was comfortable and did the job. Service was friendly and prompt (you have to check your skis in, and call to have them brought up to the front desk area...not a big deal and they were prompt, 5 to 10 minutes warning and they were always ready for us). The only real downside was a bit of noise, either from the hallway or from outside late at night...but Whistler is a ski town with a healthy apres ski scene...so that was not unexpected, and we did not hold that against the hotel. Overall, we would stay there again if the price were anywhere similar deal.
“You get what you pay for”
I love the vicinity to the Gondola's and the cheap price, but you get what you pay for. Other than a classy restaurant in the lobby, the hotel is old and poorly maintained. The refrigerator in our room made a lot of noise, and the thin windows do not properly dampen late night drunks. The WiFi is free but has severly limited bandwidth and is sometimes impossible to use in the evening. I recommend this hotel to skiers on a tight budget who enjoy going out at night and do not want to drive or cab it back to a remote location.
“great hotel with a casual atmosphere”
The Listel is billed as European-style hotel; since I have not yet travelled to Europe I don't know if that's accurate. But it is great hotel: cozy, low-key, with a very friendly and wellcoming vibe. The lobby is small, but inviting. There is a terrific restaurant on premises. The staffmembers were warm and friendly to our dog and to our teenaged son. You can't beat the location right in the heart of Whistler village. The rooms are large enough to comfortably accomodate two adults and a teenager. A microwave would be nice, and a better internet connection. But otherwise, a great hotel. We'll definitely be back next year.
“Great place to stay!”
This is a great place to stay in the village, everything was so convenient. The price was very affordable and the staff very friendly. We have stayed before at the Listel Hotel and will be back again!
“Noisy Garage Door”
My room was on the first floor and happened to be above the parking garage entrance, so there was the creaking sound of the garage opening and closing at night and in the morning. However, there were other rooms available and I could have requested to move, but I was only staying two nights so I didn't bother.
“Good price for good hotel”
Hotel was clean and convenient. Our room was in the corner and there was a strange amount of furniture in the room, almost like it was a storage room. The breakfast was fine. The wifi was a pain - a little slow and went in and out - but it was free.
“Good Location, reasonable value when on sale”
Helpful staff. Good location for gondolas. Expensive restaurant.
“rough neighborhood”
The hotel is in a courtyard surrounded by three other properties right off Whistler VIllage square. It's a great location, exept that late-night revellers passed by each night when the bars closed on their way home. Each night we were awakened at 2 by loud, drunken voices. They did not pass by quickly, either. One night there was a lengthy drunken snow ball fight. And each morning the stairways leading up to the village square smelled like a subway. This is not the Listel's problem: it was actually a sweet hotel with a great staff. But it certainly had an impact on our overall satisfaction with Whistler.
“Excellent Location”
This hotel is within a short walk to the ski lifts, gondolas, shops and restaurants. We parked the car below the hotel ( charged per night) and never used it until we checked out. Everything was so close to the hotel. Since this was the Christmas season, everything was decorated and all lit up. Enjoyed all of the skiing, eating and the hotel. My daughter can hardly wait to go back.
“Great location and pet-friendly”
Good basic hotel "home base" in Whistler. Parking is a little dicey - underground lot has some double spaces; if you park behind someone you have to leave your keys at the front desk. We chose this because of their pet policy ($25 CAD per night, great location, and good value. We parked Friday and never used the car again until we left Sunday - everything, including hiking trails, were in walking distance.
