We had heard good things about the Old Red Inn and Cottages. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to the reviews. We stayed in cabin 4, which was pet friendly. There was soap scum all over the sink from the previous customers. The piping for the shower was far from up to code and the building itself had evident rot. The propane fireplace was the only source of heat, but when it shut off in the middle of the night, we both woke up frozen and stayed awake until the fireplace came back on and warmed the cabin up. The decor is beyond outdated. The sign at the road had no working light, so the place was hard to find at night. This inn is overpriced. We will not be staying there again.

Quick get away...

Posted May 18, 2013
My husband and I wanted a quick little get away to shop and relax. The location was perfect, walking distance to most shops and restaurants. Richard and Susan were wonderful. I wish it had been cold enough to use the fireplace it added so much to the little rustic cabin feel. The only draw back was the traffic noise in the morning witch we remedied with a fan and closing the windows on the street side. Breakfast and hot coffee in the mornings was also delicious and filling. It was a very nice time.

Roughing It.

Location: Appalling that other places charge the price of a room to bring a 7lb dog with you. Not pet friendly at all.
Very old, run down, no amenities and way over priced. Next time I will leave the dog home and stay in a nice place for a lot less money.

Reasonable and Relaxing!

Pros: Easy parking. Great homemade beakfast in a cozy setting.
Cons: Lots of stairs if you are not agile, for the 2 top rooms at the Inn.
Location: Great location, near many attratctions.
This was our first time staying at Old Red Inn & Cottages, and we would go back again. It is near many tourist attractions, and the innkeepers are very nice. Fall is a great time to be NH!

Fantastic Cottage Experience

Posted Aug 5, 2011
My niece and I stayed at the Old Red Inn and Cottages for a tubing weekend. We have always camped and wanted to try something a little less rustic while maintaining the feel of still being close to nature. We decided on staying in a cottage and it was even more than we hoped for. We had all the comforts of home while having the quaintness of a cottage setting. The homemade breakfast was delicious, the owners friendly and helpful with our questions. The beds were very comfortable and everything well kept. We will definitely be back!
