Budget Quality, High End Prices
Posted Jan 13, 2013
Pros: The water park is nice, and you don't have to be a guest at the resort to gain admission.
Cons: Old, smelly, overpriced
Location: The location is good. There are lots of family friendly things to do nearby. There is an ice cream place across the street with a playground.
I have traveled a lot in my years. I have stayed at many resorts. We were taking our 4 year-old to Story Land and I thought this place looked nice and we were excited about the attached water park. I think the photos misrepresent the hotel quality. This is an older hotel, the walls are thin, the mattresses old and bouncy, a strange smell permeating the resort. I couldn't believe what I paid for the room once I got in it. It was a budget room yet priced top dollar...total rip off. If they want to keep charging high prices they better do some remodeling and updating. The beds for a start, and the bathrooms were older and the water pressure was terrible and fluctuated temperature. Also, the restaurant Champney's was also a total rip-off. They touted their buffet as being a great deal and amazing. The food was Golden Corral quality, yet we paid a 4 star-restaurant price. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel; however, during our scenic drive around I did think it looked like one of the nicer ones around. Apparently resorts in NH just don't have the same standards as resorts in other states. I say this because we stayed at another "resort" at Loon Mtn and it was also a little worn, outdated, old & smelly...but the prices were high there as well. Next time I will stay at the Hampton Inn down the road.

Pros: Kept the kids busy
Cons: The room's condition
Location: Great location. Close to center of North Conway
The amenities of this hotel definitely makes up for the deteriorating condition of the hotel's rooms. The rooms need major updating. In the hotel's favor, the kids had a ball with what the hotel had to offer. Namely, the waterpark. Very nice and very clean. Also, they offered daily activities like wagon rides pulled by horses, movies with popcorn, bonfires nightly and cookie decorating events. The restaurant was very nice with a beautiful view as well.

Great family hotel

Spacious room, nice to have refrig and coffee maker in the room. Our room was reasonably quiet with view of valley below. Staff was very helpful, even willing to reheat leftovers in microwave (behind front desk). Water Park was fun for kids, although at 14, just on the edge. Hot tub was relaxing for parents.

Good place that's all about the kids!

We recently spent 2 nights for a family getaway after a particularly hectic month or two and it was pretty relaxing. We stayed here a couple ears back and it seemed like the rooms had been updated since our last stay. The bathroom was clean; the room was nice; the general condiction of the hotel was nice. The main reason any family would come here is the water park--we hardly left it was all our kids - age 6&9 - wanted to do. Breakfast at champneys was very good but both mornings the only option we had was a $16 for adults, $9 for kids all you can eat buffet. Good if you're heading out for a day of skiing but too much $$ for me for a simple breakfast. The extra touches like sundaes, movie night, cookie decorating and hot apple cider in the lobby were great. We had a good time an it was a relaxing family-oriented quick getaway but I have to wonder if we would have saved money by staying elsewhere and paying the day rate to go to the water park.

Loved this hotel....rooms were large, clean and quite. We had a room with an outside patio facing the front lawn. The food was excellent at the hotel and the service was great! Friendly and helpful staff

Pros: The view
Cons: Parking
Location: Convenient to local attractions, restaurants and shopping.
There wqas not sufficient lighting in the room. Dim bulbs in the lamps. Half of one light did not work. Hotel layout was confusing. Had to go through a banquet hall to get from room to the elevator. Ice machines not available on each floor. Had to go up to the next level to get ice. Parking was not great. Too far to go to front lobby and then to get to room. Otherwise, front desk staff was courteous and helpful. Room was upgraded upon arrival although I didn't understand the need for a huge jacuzzi tub next to the bed. Tub was very scratched on the bottom. I'm sure it was clean but it did not entice me to use it. The view was beautiful.

Sadly not the hotel for anyone other than families. Particularly disappointed in that I had stipulated that there were 3 adults very clearly and the room was not set up to accept 3 - had to chase for addition items including towels.
