30 min wait to checkinPosted Nov 7, 2014 on Hotels.com
I was under the impression that this was similiar to some of the nicer hotels in the area. Boy, was i wrong. As soon as I got there to check in there was no one at the front desk. I waited for a few mins then proceeded to walk around the hotel looking for someone to simply check me in. I tried ringing the bell, calling the front desk, making noise to get someones attention and nothing! After about 35 min of waiting and walking around someone finally showed up. I immediately told her how long ive been waiting and how this was possible and she brushed it off like it was nothing. I asked for a discount and she stated they cant give discounts and that I would have to go through Hotels.com to get reimbursed. To top it all off the room as very old looking and not up to par with the pictures on the site. Overall it was a very bad experience for what was supposed to be a great Bday weekend.

Room was way too hot; no way to turn off heat. Would've been fine to have the window open if there weren't 8,000 drunk teenagers 3 blocks away. The White Plains nightclub strip is very nearby. Too loud, too hot, super weird environment. They also don't have internet-- the only wireless is in the lounge, you have to pay to use it, and they make you rent a $10 cord from them to hook up your computer in your room! Does my computer even take a cord anymore? I have no idea because it's 2014.

Needs workPosted Oct 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
We would not stay at this hotel again. It might be OK if kitchen items were important. However, the heater knob was missing, so we needed to keep the window open to cool the room. The bathroom was terrible. The same light switch turned on lights in the bathroom and in the main room vanity. There was not tub in the bathroom or shelf space. It was a terrible layout. the front desk was not staffed the first night. Coffee was not available the last hour of the continental breakfast. Overall the place needs a lot of work and is not worth the price charged.

Awful dirty hotel. Moved rooms 3 times, no improvement. Being upgraded next year so not worth cleaning or maintaining? Indescribable condition of rooms and service. Quickly cancelled stay booked on return visit on way home.

The Esplanade has seen better days.Posted Sep 20, 2014
Pros: The telephone is an antique.
Cons: The place is pretty run down. It is old, but they could do better. No internet access in the rooms.
This hotel has seen better days. Zero amenities. Zero. Repairs have been made poorly. Worry about mold in such a case. Almost checked out and relocated. Smoke detectors are chirping. Doors broken. A general state of disrepair. You get the feeling nobody cares about this place, like they are getting ready to tear it down and don't want to spend any effort to maintain it. The clerk at the desk can't really be called staff.

TERRIBLEPosted Sep 16, 2014
Location: I was going to a HS reunion in Rye so I don't know
No one at check in desk and no sign on desk. I called the operator and was directed across the street to the Esplanade senior living center. I was told desk person on break but such a person never surfaced during my stay. Desk clerk at senior living had no clue about parking. I parked next door in a city structure and paid $9 for the night. When I checked out clerk at senior living wouldn't tell me what my rate was, as it was done online. I had left a deposit of $100 on credit card and she could find no record. The room was ok if rundown. Bathroom grimy and faucet only operated as a forceful stream of water. Small tv with few channels. Really set up for extended stay with kitchen facilities. Small fridge best thing about the stay.
