Close to beach, restaurants etc...

Great hotel, great people, too! We were upgraded to one bedroom from a simple room and this suite had everything from kitchenette to balcony to double bathroom ( well, technically 1 & 1/2 :) ) My kids loved the heated bathroom floors and the powerful shower! In other words, we'll come back and recommend it to family & friends!

Great location and staff.

The room could have been a little cleaner. It wasn't dirty, but the walls throughout were pretty scuffed and dinged up. The balcony and location were excellent, as well as the staff. I would highly recommend this place.

Nice hotel but be aware of noted concerns

Posted Jun 18, 2014
Pros: Very clean and nicely appointed room. Very nice front desk staff. Wonderful scones and muffins at the little coffee bar next to the hotel.
Location: Nice location - across from White Rock beach - perhaps that is justification for price? Lots of places to eat along the beach front - variety galore.
balcony of adjacent room was right outside of our window - odd. so that if the people sat on "their" balcony they would be looking in our window .. so right outside our window when we are sleeping ... room was a little "stuffy" - there is an air conditioning unit but quite noisy. A window does open but hesitant to leave it open at night in case the neighbours decide to use the balcony. no view, no pool, $10 to park per night Train passing right across the street - with honking - three or four times during the night Definitely feel it is overpriced.

Nice on the outside, not as nice on the inside.

Pros: Location. Style of the building.
Cons: Rooms could be updated and musty smell should be dealt with.
Location: Right on Marine drive in White Rock. Lots of restaurants and night clubs close by. Right on the ocean as well. Very nice location.
The clerk at the reception desk on the evening shift was helpful and friendly and gave me a positive impression of the hotel. In fact, everything was good until I got to the room. Upon entry, it smelled a bit musty even though the window was open, looked a bit dated and gave me a feeling of being somehow not quite clean, without being able to put my finger on exactly why. The night of my stay I was awoken by the sound of a mechanical hum that got louder and more labored over the course of a couple of minutes. It eventually stopped and I fell back to sleep. However some time later, the sound returned and woke me again. feeling very tired and unwilling to get up to investigate, I hoped the sound would just go away and not return, but of course it did. The third time, I jumped out of bed and traced the sound to it's source. It turned out to be the compressor in the mini-bar fridge that was seizing up and causing the racket. I unplugged it and went back to sleep. In the morning I reported the problem to a different clerk at the front desk who made no apology and merely stated that she would have someone check it out. While not terribly put out, it did irk me enough to write this post. I'm sure my problem with the bar fridge was a rare occurrence at the hotel, and most guests experience a much better sleep than I did, I just didn't receive the response that I would normally expect from a first rate hotel.

Great staff - tired hotel

We were provided a rear room over a garden/ apt building. Had requested a front facing room towards water at time of reservation booking. Adjoining room door opening/closing very noisy upon occupant vacating during night/early morning.

Staff nightmare

Posted May 22, 2014
Parking is limited and tight, but staff directed a guest to park in the no parking zone. We were unable to leave for work in the morning, and that guest was called to move his vehicle. He felt embarrassed and apologized many times. Also, reported our refrigerator wasn't working and we had food that was spoiling... No one came to fix it... When I talked to William, he wanted to argue, and hung up on me.
