Lovely to look at - but hard to get therePosted Sep 10, 2013
Location: We stayed here while touring Glacier NP.
It would have been a much better arrival if we had been advised about the major road construction at the end of our long day's drive. Thus, we were exhausted & exasperated by the time we stepped up to the front desk. Although we inaccurately expected a country setting, the Lodge was very attractive inside & out. Our beautiful & spacious room, however, had three significant problems. The tub drain did not, the air conditioner leaked & created a hole in the floor under the carpet & the eco-friendly lighting was not acceptable. I could hardly discern the color of our clothing. Housekeeping responded quickly to fix the drain & bring an additional lamp (which was only a very slight improvement), but the air conditioner & flooring issue required major repairs which would be completed after our departure. The hot tub was great! I do believe all but the lighting can & will be resolved.

Close to WhitefishPosted Sep 8, 2013
Pros: Relaxing accommodation with shuttle into Whitefish enabling me to enjoy a drink and not have to drive.
Cons: The pool area is quite dated and could be upgraded
Location: Glacier National Park is a must but also a drive through to Kalispell and further afield the drive through to St Ignacius was interesting.
Easy access to Glacier National Park and the Red Bus Tour is a must. Have the camera ready as we saw 3 black bear. Grouse Mountain Lodge has all the facilities for comfort and the Spa was excellent. Rooms very well cleaned daily.

Just okay, says it all.Posted Sep 7, 2013
Pros: Free shuttle available to downtown Whitefish (5 minutes away) until 2 am.
Cons: The ambience and comfort of the rooms.
Had high hopes for this hotel that is billed as one of the nicest places to stay in beautiful Whitefish, Montana. The front entry of the hotel is quite impressive with high ceilings and lots of stone and old wood. Very charming. When we checked in we found that the King Bed that we had booked would actually be two Queens. Not very charming. We were told that this was because the "hotel" was actually a "ski lodge," which made no sense to me. Why can't a "ski lodge" have King Beds? The room itself was nothing too impressive. Average in all respects, not much character at all when compared to the entry. The beds were quite comfortable, nothing wrong there. It was clean. The wi-fi was free and easily accessible. The view was of the parking lot. The bathroom was fine. All in all, kind of a boring sterile Motel 6 feel to the room. Considering the price we paid, it was just not the level of comfort we were expecting. Wouldn't go back.

Nice hotel, but not great for the pricePosted Sep 3, 2013
Location: The nearby Golf Course was excellent to play and the food was outstanding.
The hotel is nice and clean, but you are paying for the location. The view from the sundeck where the hot tubs are located is very nice and gets the morning sun. They also have an espresso counter which was much appreciated. Our standard room, with 2 queen beds, is very basic and plain looking. No mini bar, very small tub and my husband was disappointed in the small TV. Half the rooms back onto the parking lot, so there was no view for us.

A beautiful lodge and wonderful room with a great bath. It was about a 45 minute drive to Glacier National Park so not as convenient as we thought.
