“"Best Biker Bar by Far", according to the sign but definitely not the best hotel experience”
After being greeted by the life-size metal sculpture of two skeletons on a motorcycle that graced the front of the hotel, we were greeted and then given the code which would open the locked security door to enter the hotel. The room itself was acceptable - until the evening. At 11:00 pm (two hours after these weary travelers had gone to bed) the booming club music began. At about 3:00 am the half-dozen strip clubs (advertising lap dances and "bedzzz") that surrounded The Avalon must have let out because rather than the sporadic drunken shouts that had punctuated the previous four hours, there was a great loud bout of screaming joined by zealous renditions of football songs that were delivered from the middle of the street. We got up the next morning for the hotel breakfast and, after wiping the crumbs off of the table from the previous day's guests, we sat down to a rather greasy full English breakfast washed down by a cup of hot milk from the coffee machine since apparently the machine had been supplied with milk, but not coffee. I cannot recommend strongly enough that this hotel be avoided by anyone who would want a good night's sleep or anyone with children or a sensitive constitution.
