Nice hotel, beautiful beaches

The food at Mermaids restaurant was outstanding and great idea having a quiet dining area for adults at the breakfast buffet. Cocktails seemed weak throughout the resort.

Nice place, but pricey extras

Posted Jul 16, 2014
You definitely need one heated large pool!! Some of the extras were too pricey, like mini golf, which should have been free. We understand motorized sports are always expensive.

Excellent

Pros: staff, sun, holiday program
Cons: More things open more often, but with the prices as reasonable as they are I think it is fair enough
Beautiful island, friendly staff. Ive never been able to take a holiday where I just relaxed. Because the island is so small you see the same people all over the place and quickly make friends.

Would not go again

Posted Feb 25, 2014
Pros: Rooms were clean and very spacious
Cons: activities, dining options, late night activities and bar open for adults
Location: the island itself was beautiful, other islands were great, as well as great barrier reef (a must do) and white haven beach
The resort food was expensive and very limited, buffet food from $50 pp. There were only two choices or places to eat - restaurant or buffet (way too expensive for families too) It was very regimented in dining times. Although it rained, all activities were cancelled, with very little wet weather activities.Very boring - not much to do except swim in the pool. Stayed for 5 days and the pool bar didnt open once.

great hotel , friendly staff

Posted Feb 25, 2014
Pros: Pools, friendly staff. Activities
Cons: dinner buffet, live entertainment
I stayed with my girlfriend, we had a great time. Alot of fun ,free activities available. It was quiet ,Pools are amazing ,even better because there are seperate ones for kids , the only thing I can fault about the whole trip was the price of the dinners. There were not many options available and those that were available arent worth the price. Light lunch menus and the Boathouse bakery are good value.

Access to everything

Posted Feb 22, 2014
Location: DDI is perfect if you want to be a little bit away from an everyday resort, but still have access to everything!
Everything from getting to the island, checking in and on were seamless. I wanted a no fuss vacation and that is what I got!

DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE

Posted Feb 13, 2014
Pros: Nothing much
Cons: They could have a board to inform the guests about changes in scheduled activities.
1 On arrival to our room, we noticed our sliding door was defective. It took several phone calls, hours waiting in the room before it got fixed 2 How ridiculous is it that one has to pre-book to eat every night , when there was only 1 Restaurant opened, against a BBQ at the poolside which consisted of only a beef burger & salad 3 we went to dinner one night and did not book and was given a table at the back of the place to witness that half the middle of the restaurant stayed empty .We also noticed that there was a Take Away service taking place, when we inquired about it , we were told that it was only on that day. there was no mention of it anywhere. 4Due to the previous cyclone, the main pool & beach area were closed for work. Although there was a pool at each end of the island, the south end was a quieter spot which many quests used . we were disappointed to see that there was several palm tree branches in the pool which were there during our whole stay. 5 I wanted a copy of the receipt for the trip on the ferry to Hamilton island for tax invoice from the Whitsunday at Day-Dream and no one could print me one on the island .but it was not an issue for their colleague at Hamilton Island , to help us with our request. As you can see, I was quite disappointed with our short break. It is quite ironical to go to an island where you cant even get access to the beach and minimal entertainment at night if any!!

Lovely resort and location.

Posted Feb 7, 2014
Pros: The location is wonderful with breathtaking scenery both on the island and surroundings.
Cons: The variety of restaurants and prices along with a wider variety of snack foods to last through the days. The type of activities especially in the wet
The hotel is of a high quality and I do recommend to other traveler's although be wary of the time of year you chose to travel. Unfortunately, our trip was dampened by tropical storms which is out of the hotels control although, the activities offered for this typical weather (according to numerous staff members who informed us it happens often) by the resort was very disappointing. Be prepared for entertaining yourselves, adults and children. We were left with a table tennis table, two pool tables, a few movies every few days and bingo every second day between the whole resort which was not nearly enough to entertain the children on the island, then there was the adults. If you are after a lazy and relaxing holiday spent around a pool and willing to splurge on a quite expensive array of meals this resort is perfect for you.
