best place you can stay on the island

Posted Mar 21, 2015
Pros: good location, everything is really new
Cons: higher internet data limit
Honestly, I don't what what else we should have asked for. REALLY nice place, good location, everything is really new, but you only get 400MB wifi / stay (NOT per night!) Ask for a cabin wih 20-40 since they are much closer to the pool and everything

Nothing special

Posted Mar 15, 2015
We stayed 2 nights and 3 days at the end of our Australian tour . This was supposed to be a highlight , but at the end it was disappointing . The room wasn't clean (stains, dust, waste under the bed )and we had to complain , we got one night paid back and the room got cleaned wish was fair. Overall airlie beach is a better and cheaper base to explore the whitesunday. Hamilton is a big resort more oriented for elderly people. You pay a premium room , but the bungalow itself doesn't offer anything special , the price you pay get into the free shuttle of the island and this tropical feeling . The island is nice but the beach is average - don't expect the white heaven beach quality....overall except if you have tons of money to book the qualia rooms, skip it and stay in a nice place in airlie.

Nice bungalows - close to beach and marina

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: Quiet in the bunglows
Cons: Service, welcome and attention
A great 3 night/4 day stay. Great ambiance across all areas, great restaurants at marina and all other stores and activity facilities very welcoming and helpful Don't expect too much attention from the hotel staff/concierge - all a wee bit too young and inexperienced; could do with attention in this area, especially when leaving for the airport; total disarray!! Overall though, loved the experience and the fruit bat show at dusk was amazing

Central location for exploring the whitsundays

Posted Feb 12, 2015
Pros: Kangaroos visited the lawn in front of our bungalow several times ! Could walk from bungalow to the marina or hotel beach and pool easily
Cons: Food at resort restaurants was very poor - nicely presented but tasteless and overpriced - restraunt windows needed a good cleaning
Location: Took cruise on reef rider to white haven and chalkies beach - excellent beautiful beaches - we only did the half day and I wish we had done the full
First trip to whitsundays and we really enjoyed these beautiful islands - took cruise whitsundays trip to great barrier reefworld - it's about 2 hour cruise each way - seas were quite rough - lots of folks with seasickness but excellent snorkeling on arrival and very attentive crew I'm glad we stayed at the bunglows as the reef hotel seemed way too chaotic Pool is very nice and overlooks the beach - the hotel beach at cats eye has lots of seaweed but folks seemed to enjoy it anyway Tour desk agents were not very helpful

nice bungalow, close to the beach

Posted Feb 11, 2015
Pros: the room was super cool, and clean
Cons: more tour operators are needed, or even just a guy and his boat who wanted to help people out. Lots of money to be made.
No activities were available on a long weekend which made it a bit boring. we were stuck on the island at the one beach really. No even able to hire buggies to drive around in as they were all taken.

Beautiful room & location but service not great.

Posted Jan 29, 2015
Pros: Location.
Cons: Customer service. Have the kids club open at times to complement tours (eg Sundays, or from 8am other days). Clean the pool area before it opens.
Location: If you want to do any tours I suggest you book in advance as everything child-friendly was booked out and the kids club closed on Sundays!
Palm bungalow room was great - nice and big with a nice balcony to relax on. Recently renovated. We were close to the pool/beach area which was a plus. However the service was disappointing. We had to call twice (midday and then again at 6pm) to get a cot bought to the room, by the time it came we had put our baby to sleep in the pram. We also had to call twice for our room to be serviced as they missed the first day. By the time they came literally all they did was make the bed and replace towels - for a beach-side resort I would expect a swept floor due to the amount of sand. Friday night we couldn't get into a restaurant as everywhere (hotel-side or marina-side) was booked out. The Thai restaurant (hotel-side) was lovely! The pool area was very poorly managed - going for a swim at 8:30am and there were still empty glasses from the night before littered about the place.

Pros: From the moment we arrived we felt like it was going to be an enjoyable trip..and it was amazing and relaxing!!
Cons: In all pickiness but honesty..we had to keep asking for additional towels and we never once had the bathroom supplies replenished...
Location: It's a 5 minute walk or 2 minute drive by golf buggy to town..and all of the excursion points are right at the marina and easy to get to!
We were in a bungalow and loved the privacy and quaintness of it...

Greatest honeymoon you'll ever have

Posted Dec 29, 2014
Pros: Housekeeping Free breakfast Close to the beach Smoke free Friendly service from all the staff
Cons: Dust the rooms more; they seem to get dusty pretty easily
Location: See the beautiful wildlife Swim, relax in the sun Go on the adventurous activities such as ATV, cruises, flights hire a buggy and just drive around
Everything about the trip was perfect. From landing at the airstrip, to checking in and having our luggage taken to our rooms for us and the whole trip. The food was great in most hotels and the service made the food even greater. Couldn't have chosen a better location for the honeymoon.

Cons: We paid for 2 children in the room, but only got linen for 2 adults - so not enough beach towels. Hounded out of the room at 5 to 10am.
Facilities: Modern; Value: Over-priced; Hamilton Island a very, very expensive place to stay overall!
