Howard Johnsons - Williamsburg

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: The location was great - close proximity to all attractions and restaurants
Cons: Clean the hotel. You are paying people to clean it but they are not doing their job. Know your spaces - mgt should be overseeing cleaning staff.
Location: Old town Williamsburg, Great Wolf Water Park, Busch Gardens, all were extremely close and easy to get to.
The hotel was dirty. Specifically, the windows all around were filthy. The bathroom in the room was dirty and the whirlpool did not work in it. There was hair on the pool towels! There were bugs in the dresser drawers and in the bathroom. I cannot recommend the hotel nor will I ever stay there again.

The hotel was very outdated. They gave us a key to someone else's room so we walked in on another family. Staff wasn't very nice. Our room was horrible. Bathroom was so nasty that you wouldn't even want to use it. Good price but not a great stay!

Not the best hotel, but worth the price

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: Cheap rates
Cons: Continental breakfast is not really worth listing as a perk.
Location: It is near the outlets which are nice
The hotel was clean, and you can tell they have made some updates. Overall I would stay here if i'm looking to save some money. The continental breakfast is pretty pathetic though. Cereal and toast were the only options I saw.

Find another Hotel!

One tip for you if happen to be in Williamsburg, VA and you need a hotel to stay: DO NOT ROOM IN HOWARD JOHNSON. One of the worst experiences ever. When I first arrived this young man behind the counter was too busy taking selfies before aknowledging me to check me in. When I received the card key to the room, I discovered that my sheets were not made, and the mattress was bare. It looked as though a maid got distracted making up the room midway through. And here comes the best surpise of them all, I opened up one of the drawers and found a dead coachroach inside. WTH??!!!!! I will never stay in this hotel again when I'm back in the area

Floor wasn't clean and found a roach in a drawer. Beds were made but didn't have an iron and free breakfast was limited selection of cereal.

Older but underated

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Price and location
Cons: Cleanliness of the rooms and update the linen and towels
Location: Busch Gardens was 15 minutes Water Country les.
This hotel while older still is a great stay for the price. They could pay a little more attention to the room cleaning but overall we were satisfied and with saving about 70.00 dollars a night over other places would likely stay here again and recommend to others. The staff is most friendly and very willing to help. The breakfast is not the best I have had for free nor is it the worst. If it isn't to your liking there is a McDonalds just 300 ft across the parking lot.
