Excellent value, friendly staffPosted Jun 5, 2013
Pros: Free grab and go breakfast and wifi in room
Cons: Nothing was excellent
Location: Central location for exploring downtown and the beaches
Excellent value for money. Clean spacious rooms. Staff where very helpful and friendly. The free grab and go breakfast provided plenty of choice with tea, coffee, porridge, muffins, fruit and cereal bars. Hotel is central with plenty of amenities in surrounding area. Only 10 minutes to downtown Wilmington and 15 minutes to the beach.

The staff members were very nice and accommodating. However, we were concerned as we drove in to see a car in the parking lot up on a block under one of the wheels...looked like something you'd see in a bad neighborhood. The hotel was nice but it wreaked of cigarette smoke in the lobby and I confirmed that we had requested a smoke free room. When we got to the room, it looked nice but the carpet was wet. The manager said that it had just been washed and would be dry very soon. The lounge chair had also been washed and was also wet so that we could not sit in it. The next morning, both the carpet and the chair were still damp. By that next morning, the cigarette smoke had filtered into our room and the hall outside our room was heavy with the foul smell. We could not take another day so we checked out. I would not reccommend this hotel chain to a friend and we will never consider going back.

Good for the moneyPosted May 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had a tournament in the area as a family of 5 rates and comfort are always an issue..we felt for the money everything was fine, the hotel needs to invest in more cookware but overall we will return next year...thanks

close to good resturantsPosted May 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
the room was OK but the dishes provided were dirty. Since we were only staying 2 nights, no maid service was available. However, while we were out for the day, someone came into our room and turned off the AC. We did not feel that to be necessary as it was in the 80s during the day. Also, when we returned to the room, there was a strong smell of smoke as if someone had been smoking in our room. We noticed it was very strong in the bathroom even after we were back in the room for a while.

Very expensive for no housekeeping servicesPosted May 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
Perhaps I missed it in my research prior to reserving, but I was very surprised that there was no daily housekeeping for my room...not even minimal. It was up to me to keep myself stocked on towels, toilet tissue (there was no boxed tissue, so toilet tissue went faster than normal because it had to be multi-purpose), coffee, and to empty my own trash. For this lack of service, the cost should not be as high as for similar hotels that include this service in the cost. One night, there was a fire (4a.m.) where we evacuated and the fire dept came, but none of the hotel staff was able to tell me anything about the fire the next day. However, one of the staff did say it was a common occurence that people would come back to the hotel drunk and then cook and burn food in their rooms. Really??? The stench of burnt food prevented me from getting back to sleep that night and I was thankful there were no more incidents for the rest of my stay. I do A LOT of traveling, and have stayed in many different hotels, from smaller, convenience types to five-star, each having their pros and cons. But I will NEVER stay at Extended Stay America again! I wish I could get a refund.

Passing the buckPosted May 13, 2013
Pros: Nothing. It smelled of smoke on the elevator and 3rd floor and the overall atmosphere was cheap.
Cons: When rooms are paid and confirmed - don't rebook them. Because someone else didn't advance plan their trip doesn't mean my plans should be erased.
Location: Wilmington - visit the Battleship, explore the water front or head to the beach. Nothing nearer than those.
I did the online registration of course but then also to confirm my registration with the hotel IMMEDIATELY after using Expedia. My NONsmoking room was confirmed and PAID FOR with the desk. When I arrived two weeks later, I was given the song and dance that they had nothing to give me but a smoking room (3rd floor reeks of smoke as does the elevator). The desk clerk complained about Expedia overbooking but as I checked in at 3:30 pm which was only half an hour past their check in time ... my room which was already confirmed and paid should NOT have been given to another patron. I had paid for it weeks ago. They were not overbooked by Expedia as I had called and checked. This was the hotel's inability to say "I am sorry but we have no non smoking available" instead of rebooking my room. I am furious.

Good StayPosted May 10, 2013
Cons: Customer service. Rarely saw any around.
Location: Location is close to food and 10 minutes from water.
If you want a kitchen and a good price, stay here. Maid service is once a week, however, you can ask for towel refresh.
