This hotel is right on Wrightsville beach with indoor pool, outdoor pool and hot tubs There's a nice area with lounge chairs on a boardwalk style deck that wraps around the beach section of the hotel that gives you a beautiful and comfortable area to relax and view the ocean. The food in the restaurant is very good and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Wilmington North Carolina area

More than adequate hotel in perfect beach location

Posted Nov 4, 2014
Stayed for a couple of days to enjoy beach experience during trip exploring Carolina ( 27/10) Whilst this wouldn't have been the best hotel we stayed at we certainly had no complaints. All staff helpful & friendly . Free shuttle to and from waterside restaurant was much appreciated . Great location and would go again in a heartbeat ! For those who need a negative - hotel lacked a vibrancy , but it's amost November !

Great Nick! Thank you for staying with us and visiting our beautiful North Carolina too. Our location in Wrightsville Beach is perfect-secluded enough but just a 3 minute drive to downtown Wrightsville Beach restaurants and shops. And you're right, the fall/winter time is perfect for quiet times to relax and refresh, no hustle bustle like our summertime. We hope to see y'all again soon :o) Sincerely, Amanda Rochelle, Reservations Dept Mgr, Holiday Inn Resort Wrightsville Beach

Disappointed

Booked a "Harbour View " room and in a hotel where about 90% or more rooms have a balcony and a view of the ocean or the Intercostal Waterway , we had a view of a roof of the convention rooms just be low us. I can't prove that I was lied to or discriminated against for using an online discount site to book my room ; when I went to the desk to request a room change I was told that was the room I was " assigned when I booked online " and it couldn't be changed . I was also told the hotel was " Full " . Certainly did not appear full based on a half empty parking lot and deserted public areas. The resturant the next morning had only about 15 people having breakfast. Also at least half empty.

Thank you Holmez for choosing us. I apologize the room you booked on Expedia was not the same upon check-in to the hotel. Expedia is usually pretty detailed with their room descriptions. Our Front Desk will always offer another room if one is available. In the future, our inhouse Reservations Dept is available to assist you if needed. We do hope you stay with us again. Great Location, So-So Hotel

Posted Sep 3, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed here so we could walk right out onto the beach because parking at Wrightsville can be challenging. Pluses: The hotel overall was very nice as were the people who worked there. You can't beat being able to just walk out onto the beach or come back in for rest rooms or snacks at the pool grill. They also held an outdoor movie night for the kids at the pool which was awesome. Cons: It's a pretty expensive hotel and the rooms in my opinion were old and run down. The tub, even though I am sure it was clean, was gross. The room smelled and just felt old and run down. For almost $400 a night you would expect nicer accommodations. Also the food in the restaurant (we had breakfast there) was really mediocre. HOWEVER, when I didn't like my food, they couldn't have been nicer and took it off our bill. So overall, good place to take the kids when you want an easier beach vacation but just know that you are paying a lot for sub par accommodations.

Family Resort

A resort should direct more options into dining- say a faster casual bar food service. The pool and beach access are very good.

Perfect location; small rooms

Posted Aug 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
Couldn't ask for a better location just steps away from the beach. Staff was very friendly. Food in restaurant was good - a little pricey but the kids ate for free so that helped. My only reason for not giving it a 5 is the room size was pretty small even for my family of four (kids 9 and 5). I tried to upgrade but all of the suites were booked (there's only 8 suites). Will definitely go back but will reserve a suite or 2 adjoining rooms.

Fabulous hotel for family time

Posted Aug 10, 2014
Pros: Service, service, service. Oh, and the pools, the beach, the kids club, the buffet breakfast with MONKEY BREAD TO DIE FOR, and the pillows.
Cons: MONKEY BREAD EVERY DAY!!!!
Location: Bring a boogie board, or rent one. Try surfing lessons from IndoJax, eat at the Bluewater Waterfront Grill, and visit the turtle hospital if you can.
Our second stay here, and possibly even better than the first, due to amazing weather and the beautiful beach. Our kids love kids club, the restaurant does a great buffet breakfast, the pools are clean and not crowded, the beach is pristine and (literally) a stones throw from the hotel, and the staff are incredibly attentive and helpful. Couldn't ask for more. Throw in some sunshine and you are set for a perfect family vacation.
